"Is it true, is Krypton going to die?", asked Lara Lor-Van, who was tightly holding her husband's hands. "Yes, I'm afraid so my dear", replied Jor-El, who had a look of anger in his eyes. For the past few weeks, Krypton was under attack by an army of Kryptonians led by General Zod who wanted Krypton as his own. Zod believed that if he were to rule Krypton, he would have to kill those that stood in his way of power and freedom on the planet. Jor-El and Lara Lor-von were the only two people left on Krypton that had defied Zod. They had been hiding for five days, but unfortunately their time was at an end, as Zod was not their only concern. The planet's sun had slowly started to make its way towards the surface, meaning that everything on Krypton would be burned to ash. Zod, due to his conquest, was unaware of this.
"How much longer until the sun hits us?", Lara asked sadly. "My best guess is within a week, Jor-El replied, as he walked toward the edge of the cave, which they were hiding in and faced the outside view. The look of anger on his face turned slowly into fear, as at that moment he realised that there was no place left in the universe for him and his wife to go to. There was only one Krypton, and no other Kryptonians outside of the planet. "My dear, he said, as he faced his wife and smiled, there is nothing more for us to do. We could either get killed by Zod and his army, or watch as Krypton slowly burns us all. We can't escape our destiny Lara, some things are just meant to be". Jor-El walked towards a basket next to Lara and slowly removed the cloth on top of it. Inside was a baby boy, who lay still. Jor-El smiled at the boy and said, "My son, you are the luckiest of us all. You are the first and only Kryptonian to survive this massacre that has occurred, and disaster that is about to happen".
Five miles out from the cave, Zod and his army continued to cause destruction on the planet. "Rejoice my fellow Kryptonians, Krypton is being reborn, shouted Zod, soon, you will all kneel before Zod, and understand what it means to be a Kryptonian. If you refuse, well, let's just say that you already know where that leads to!". Zod looked around and analysed the people around him, who were either screaming, running or getting shot at. "Where are you hiding, Jor-El?!, he said, your time will come, and then you will know, who Krypton truly belongs to". Zod then flew away from the site and then begin to carefully search the area for Jor-El and his wife. Zod carefully listened to the voices being heard, using his super-hearing that his was born with, along with his flight, super speed, super strength and heat vision, which he was also given by birth. Zod flew to the edge of the planet, until he finally heard, "How long do we have to keep hiding? He's bound to find us any day now". He recognised it as the voice of Lara Lor-Von and immediately flew to the location of the voice.
He touched down in front of the cave with Jor-El and Lara facing him. "So, this is where the great Jor-El has been hiding, said Zod, I'm impressed. I almost lost you completely". He then grabbed Jor-El by the neck and started to choke him. He glared at him while doing so. "If you think, that your precious wife, and yourself, can hide from me forever, you're wrong. No one hides from the truth. The truth that you, disregard'', Zod said, while choking him. "You're wrong, Jor-El said while trying to maintain his breath, your truth, is that Krypton must follow leaders who don't know what true freedom is". "And you do?", Zod asked. "No, but he does", Jor-El said, while motioning to the basket with his son inside it. Zod let go of Jor-El and threw him aside. He walked towards the basket but was stopped by Lara. "Please, don't hurt him". "Stand aside Lara, I don't want to hurt you", said Zod. Lara grabbed Zod's arm and said, "Please, he's our son". Zod was stunned and slowly pushed her aside.
Zod appeared in front of the basket and removed the cloth on top of it. He smiled and said, "Wow, another son of Krypton". He turned around and faced the couple. "I'm impressed, you gave birth to a boy that has a bright future Lara", Zod said smiling. "He's not yours Zod. He will never join you", said Jor-El. "Oh really, do you think he can hide from me too?", asked Zod as he walked towards Jor-El. "Yes, because he's leaving this planet, said Jor-El, we're sending him away". "I don't think so, Zod said. He then took out his gun and aimed it at the baby. He was almost about the shoot when Jor-El punched him in the face. The gun flew to the floor and Zod faced Jor-El angrily. "How dare you!", Zod shouted. He charged at Jor-El and the two started fighting. Both threw punches and kicks at each other. Lara watched in horror, as her husband was struggling to protect her, himself and their child.
