"Hello, mum?", asked Clark, on the phone. "Clark, how are you?", asked his mother. "Mum, I'm sorry, but I had to kill him?". "Kill who?", asked Martha. "Have you heard what's been happening in Metropolis?", asked Clark. "No, why?", asked Martha. "Well let's just say that I made a choice that I might regret", said Clark, sadly. "Son, whatever you did, you must have had a reason to do it. We can't choose who we are Clark, we have to accept it. You being on this planet, people have to accept it. You killing a man, even though we never wanted you to, you have to accept that", said Martha. "How can I live with myself?", asked Clark. "You have to, said Martha, otherwise you'll do worse what you've already done". After a somewhat deep conversation with his mother, Clark went to work. He stepped out of his apartment and looked around. The city was still in pain. It would take a while to rebuild everything destroyed.

Lois returned to work like Clark did, but unlike, she didn't have any battle scars. There were no wounds for her to heal, just the thought of almost losing her life, and her home was on her mind. Lois. When she and Clark arrived at the work, she said to him, "Where the hell have you been?". "I was hiding, making sure I was safe", said Clark. "Hiding? You were hiding? You didn't even have the balls to answer my calls?", asked Lois. "I didn't know you called, I swear", said Clark. "Clark Kent! We went out on a date! We were holding hands! Come on, don't tell me you forgot that already?!", said Lois. "No, I uh, was out. I wasn't always at home. That's probably why I missed your calls", said Clark, nervously. Lois walked up to him and stopped in front of him. "If you're hiding something, don't think that I won't find out, cause I will", said Lois. She walked away and sat on her chair.

"Clark, get in here now!", called out Perry. Clark walked into his office and sat down in the chair. "Yes sir, what is it?", he asked. "That man, or machine, or whatever the hell he is, Superman killed him", said Perry. "Yes sir, he did", said Clark. "If you know Superman, then you must know why", said Perry. "He made a hard choice, and he has to live with it", said Clark. "Can you write a story about it? About how Superman killed this man?", asked Perry. "Yes sir, and he's called Metallo, or he was", said Clark, feeling sad. "What's wrong?", asked Perry. "Oh, nothing", said Clark. "It's good to see you. We were all worried", said Perry. "Glad to be back sir", said Clark, smiling. Clark left Perry's office and sat down on chair. Jimmy came over and asked, "Clark, how are you?". "I'm good Jimmy", said Clark. "I can't believe it! Superman actually killed that guy!", said Jimmy. "Yes he did", said Clark. "I wonder where he is right now", said Jimmy. "Probably saving lives as usual", said Clark.

After a productive and normal day at the Daily Planet, Clark went home, realising that people were already questioning Superman's actions. "Clark, wait up!", called out Lois. He stopped walking and faced her. "What is it Lois?", Clark asked her. "Do you wanna got out?", asked Lois. Clark didn't know what to say. The more he got closer to her, the more he knew that he would more emotionally connected to her, and if anything were to happen to her, he would feel more pain than usual. "Yes Lois, but, this is the last time I'll do so", said Clark. "Why?", asked Lois. "Because I don't want our relationship changing how we work", replied Clark. "Are you crazy? People can easily balance work and their relationships. Imagine a family of four. How do they do it", said Lois. "Please Lois, just listen to me", said Clark. Lois sighed and said, "Fine". The two of them walked to an Italian Restaurant and ordered pasta.

After the date, they walked back home, this time, not holding hands. "Thanks Clark, I needed this", said Lois. "I'm just doing the best I can", said Clark. "Your best is enough, trust me", said Lois, smiling. Clark arrived back and went straight to bed. Lois on the other hand was thinking about Clark. "This ain't the last date Clark, she said, while lying on the bed, I'm not done with you yet". Lois wanted to spend more time with Clark. For some reason, ever since he came back, after mysteriously for five years, she had missed his company. This led to her somehow falling in love with him. But there was no kiss, no gift or even a true confession. She knew that he loved her, and she loved him, and that was all there was to it. However, that wasn't all that she was wondering about. Clark was keeping secrets. She closed her eyes, and fell in a deep sleep. The next day, both of them met at work, smiling, and went about their business.
