"Superman, that's what they're calling him, said Perry, while holding a newspaper, a new hero has found his way into the streets of Metropolis and rid the crime of this city. This is the perfect story for us". He put the newspaper down on his table, faced Clark, and said, "So tell me Clark, do you think you can get this guy to come in one day?". Clark was surprised and said, "You, want to meet, Superman?". "Of course, said Perry, I mean, it's just to ask him some questions, that's all". "But you do realise he's busy sir, said Clark, he has no time for interviews. "How do you know? You've never met him, have you?", asked Perry curiously. Clark gulped and said, "No sir, never". "Then what's stopping us from meeting him. Ok Clark, I'll give you ten days, to find and bring in Superman, said Perry, if you can't, well then... we're just gonna have to get someone else on the job. What do you say son, you in?". "Yes, sir", said Clark.
Clark realised that if he wanted Superman to do an interview for the Daily Planet, he needed to first find the best possible crimes to solve. That way, the questions might be more catered around his recent work, than himself. He didn't want his identity out there. He needed to protect himself, his mother and the people he cared about, safe. When he was walking home from Planet, he ran into Lois. Her hair was now hanging, instead of being tied up. Clark liked seeing her long black hair out in the open, rather than keeping it a secret. He liked that about Lisa too, except her hair was red, which he wasn't really a big fan of. "Lois, he called out, it's me, Clark!". Lois turned around and was astonished. "Clark, she said, wha, what are you doing here?". "I came back home. It's as simple as that", he said to her. "Where did you go?", she asked. "Let's just say that you wouldn't believe me if I told you", Clark said.
That was the first time Clark and Lois had ever had a conversation, in five years, that wasn't bad. She didn't say anything negative about himself or her being obsessed with her job. She just smiled at him and said, "Well, it's good to have you back. We all missed you". She walked away and Clark smiled. At least she had changed, but for how long? When Clark arrived back home, he decided to do something that he never thought he would do, call Lois. After taking a shower and putting on his clothes, Clark walked to the phone and picked it up. He dialled Lois' number that he remembered from the notebook on Perry's desk, in case of emergencies. He waited and waited, but she never picked up. On the other end, Lois was busy watching TV. Something she was never accustomed to doing. She was aware of the phone ringing, but decided to ignore it, not knowing who it was.
After her program on TV finished, she noticed the amount of missed calls, by the same number. Clark wasn't desperate to talk to her, he just wanted to ask Lois something, something, that after tonight, would never be asked again. Something he never asked Lisa or even Lana. You know what they always say, third time's the charm. When Lois picked up the phone and called back, she said, "Hello, who is this?". "Hi Lois, it's Clark", Clark replied back to her. "Clark, what's wrong with you, calling me so many times?", asked Lois. "I wanted to ask you a question, an important one", Clark said. "Ok, what is it?", asked Lois. "Would you like to have dinner with me tomorrow?", asked Clark, confidently. Lois was shocked. All her life, she had never once been asked out, but now, the time had finally come. And out of all the guys, it was Clark Kent from the Daily Planet. "Yes, Clark, she said, while smiling, yes I would".
The next day, Clark went to work cheerfully, knowing he had succeeded in asking Lois out, even though it took him ten years to do it. Clark never spoke to Lois at all during the day, nor did she. They both didn't want to break the news to others, as it would make them both extremely embarrassed. Whenever they looked at each other, they didn't even smile. It was as though nothing had changed between the two of them. When the day was finally over, Clark and Lois walked out of the planet, and waited, once no was around, to look at each and smile. "So, what's dinner?", asked Lois. "Does Thai work for you?", Clark asked. She smiled and nodded her head. The two of them then walked towards the nearest Thai restaurant they could find and sat down in front of the table. Clark ordered a curry with a mix of chicken and vegetables, while Lois preferred a healthier meal, sticking to just a vegetable soup.
