"Come on Clark, hit the ball", said one of Clark's classmates. Clark stared at the pitcher and held the bat with a firm grip. The pitcher threw the ball and Clark hit it. He hit it so hard that if flew all the way to the other side of town. "Oh man, now I need to buy a new ball", said the classmate that asked Clark to hit the ball, what's wrong with you Clark? You a natural or something?". "No, I've never played Baseball before", said Clark. "I've never seen anyone hit a ball like that so far before", said another classmate. Clark looked at her and smiled. "What's your name?", Clark asked. "Lana, Lana Lang", she replied. "It's nice to meet you Lana", he said. "Nice to meet you too", she replied back. "Hey, called out the classmate from before, you know if you like her, I can help you with that". "Really?", asked Clark. "Yeah, but first, you're gonna have to get me a new ball", he said. "Deal", said Clark. Clark then dashed off so fast, no one noticed him.
Clark arrived outside of school and realised what had happened. "Man, did I really just run that fast?", he asked himself, dad was right, I'm slowly becoming less human". Clark ran past some shops until he arrived at a sports shop. He walked through the aisles until he noticed a section titled "Baseball". He looked at all the different balls until he found one that closely resembled that of the one from before. He picked it up and walked to the counter. After paying for the ball, he ran back to school in a matter of seconds. "Here you go", he said, after handing the ball to his classmate. "Wow, that was quick", he replied back. "Now, about what you said", said Clark. "Right. Lana, come over here", he called out to the girl. Lana walked to the field and stopped right in front of them. "Lana, this is Clark", he said. Clark put out his arm and said, "Clark Kent". Lana and he shook hands and then stopped after a few seconds. "He wants to talk to you", said the classmate. "About what?", she asked. "Anything", Clark replied.
Clark and Lana spend the next two years of their school life together. They felt very comfortable with each other. Lana enjoyed the company of someone was smart and wise as Clark was, but Clark, well, he simply enjoyed being in the presence of a beautiful young woman. Then came the day when his whole life would change. If he answered this question, with a simple yes, Lana Lang would be his love forever, and it started with this simple yes or no question. "Clark?", Lana asked him. "Yes Lana", he replied. "Do you... wanna go out on a date?", she asked him. Clark was puzzled, but smiled. "Lana, why date, when we can remain like this forever?". "I agree, but dating is more fun", she said. "Lana, if you love me, you just need to say it. You don't need dating to cover it up", he said. "There it is again, she said to him, the wise nature of Clark Kent". Clark held her arm and kissed it. Lana smiled and said, "You can do better than that". "Let's not rush things", Clark said. Lana then moved closed to him and kissed him on the lips.
That was the last day Clark ever saw Lana. He realised that if he was going to live his life, he couldn't afford to put in harm's way. Due to his super hearing, and now super speed, Clark knew that we was slowly getting stronger and stronger. Being with Lana, also meant risking his secret of who he was. Lana did not like this, and spent the next few days crying about it. A boy came over to her and put his hand on her shoulder and said, "It's ok Lana, we'll take care of you". Lana turned to face the boy, who was smiling at her, as well as his sister, who was behind him smiling too. Lana smiled back at them and said, "Thank you". The boy angrily stared at Clark, who was leaving the school and going home. "How dare you, the boy said, break this girl's heart? Who do you think you are?". The boy and his sister took Lana to their home and spent time with her. It felt as though she was a sister to them.
Clark was able to easily move on from Lana, but his parents, they kept questioning him about her. "How dare you son?!, shouted his father, she could've been the love of your life! And you yourself took that opportunity away!". "Dad, I can't be with anyone now, said Clark softly, and besides, I'm still learning how to use my powers". "Son, those so-called powers will always be there inside you, Jonathan said, this time softly, you just have to find a way on how to control it". "But I can't, Clark said, everywhere I go, I can't stop running. No matter where I look, I always hear conversations happening. I didn't ask for this dad. You said it yourself, that I should be more like them". Jonathan sighed at Clark and said, "Clark, unfortunately, you can't do that anymore. You will never be like them", said Jonathan. "I wish I was human! I wish I was born on Earth, and not some stupid planet!", Clark shouted. He then ran upstairs and slammed his room door shut.
