"Breaking News! About five days ago, several different explosions occurred across the city of Metropolis. Police are still trying to find out who and what caused these explosions. But while they might have the fire power to do so, the people of this city still have one burning question on their mind, "Where is Superman?"", said the news reporter. Clark turned off the TV and laid back on the couch. No one had seen him or Superman for five days. He wondered why Lois hadn't visited him, since he already knew that she knew where he lived. He also wondered why no one at work decided to call and see if he'd pick up. Even though there was his mother, he still wondered why no one in Metropolis cared about him during those five days. It had also been five days for John Corben to completely change himself. He had finally gotten the opportunity to be a hero.

Clark was just about to head about to his room, when he heard a voice being played on a loudspeaker. "Citizens of Metropolis, I am John Corben, your new hero, your new saviour. Forget the Man of steel, he has done absolutely nothing to help you all in the last five days, said John, confidently, I am here to help you. I am here to bring justice to those that inflict pain and fear on you. I promise to defend this city to the best of my ability. And to you Superman, I only ask you to surrender your right as hero. If you don't reason, come and face me like a man, and then we'll see who's the true hero of Metropolis". Clark went to his room, looked at his costume and reflected the mistake he made. He clenched his fists and said, "No more. No more pain and suffering". After putting on his suit, he flew out and scanned the area. Whoever this John Corben was, he couldn't be far, based on how loud the voice was.

Clark then found a building with people coming out of it in fear. There was running, screaming and crying. He swooped down and landed on the ground. Once the building was clear, it was nothing but peace and quiet. No one even knew he was there. Something or someone had caused a panic. When he walked in the building, he heard a familiar voice in the dark, saying, "Hello Superman, nice to finally meet you, again". "John Corben, is that you?", Superman asked. John walked out of darkness and said, "No, it's Metallo now. The perfect name for the perfect hero". John was longer human. His body was made up of entirely metal. "You're no hero John, you're a maniac. You scare innocent people and cause harm to those around you, said Superman, and also, what happened to your body?". "Do you like it? I got it from a friend, a friend that hates you just as much as I do". "Whoever they are, they've taken away your life, John, said Superman, you're no longer human".

"No, but nor are you", said John. He the punched Superman and sent him flying backwards and landing a few feet away. "You've played God for too long. Your father may have sent you here for a reason, but so what? Everyone always wants someone to finish their job", said John. "And you can?", asked Superman, getting up. "Yes. I can, and I will", John said, you know you may look like the perfect hero, but deep down, you have a weakness. You may be Kryptonian, but doesn't mean that I can't break you". John opened his chest and revealed Kryptonite in the centre. Superman started to feel weak. "What, what is that", he asked, weakly. "Kryptonite Superman. Your one and only weakness", said John. "How? How could you possibly find that out?", asked Superman, still feeling weak. "I discovered that secret home of yours. I took a group of men there, men who hated you too, and together, we found it. And there was so much too", said John.

Superman didn't have words. He was both shocked, angry and weak. "You broke them out, the criminals. If you're a hero, you would know that that's wrong", said Superman. "I had to do what had to be done. If breaking out criminals meant that i could achieve my goal, then so be it", said John. "John, Metallo, whatever you are, please, stop this, said Superman, still feeling weak, I beg you". "You beg me? Superman begging? Well that's a first. What next? Crying for your loved ones? You're pathetic, just like the rest of them. You always think that you can get what you want, but no one ever does, i didn't too", said John. "There's a way to help you, there has to be", said Superman. "Help me? HELP ME?!, shouted John. He walked towards Superman, picked him up and threw him another few feet away. "No one ever once wanted to help me, said John, and now you think that you can do it? If you really have been here for a long time, you would know that no human being can fly".
