A Different World

In the Lab

The team made it back to their base with all they had collected from the Avengers warehouse.

Peter set the box down in the middle of the meeting room where Otto, Elaine, Panda, Anastasia, Doom and TaskMaster awaited for their return.

"I see your mission was a success." Doom rightfully assumed.

"Yep. We got everything we could." Peter said.

"So... what's with the broken robot?" Panda asked.

"Oh, that's Ultrons body. Or at least what the Avengers had already made." He informed.

"His... body?" Otto said raising his eye in question.

"Yep. Ultron wasn't just an AI, he was a synthezoid." Peter told him excitedly.

"Really? I didn't think the Avengers had such capabilities." Otto contemplated.

"Sorry, but have I missed something here. What's a syn-the-zoid?" Elaine asked slightly irked.

"It's synthetic android. I'm guessing that this Ultron is the actual AI and it is then housed within this robot correct?" Otto explained, looking at Peter for confirmation.

"Exactly right Otto. We need to finish the creation of the robot body, then create the AI and upload it into the machine." Peter informed them.

"Fantastic. Peter can you put those things into my lab, then we'll get started right away." Otto asked Peter.

"Sure thing." He said picking the box up and leaving the meeting room.

After Peter left the group resumed their discussion. "So what was it you had to tell us Doom?" Asked TaskMaster.

"It would appear as though news of Spider-Man's 'imposter' has began to spread." Don said emphasising the word imposter.

"Well... we figured it was about to happen eventually. He was seen when he first arrived and when he went out with TaskMaster, so what's the problem?" Otto inquired knowing their was more to what Doom was saying.

"It would seem 'she' has found out and is demanding answers?" Doom spoke cryptically.

"She? Who do you... oh. Her!" Anastasia realised.

"Yes. When I didn't reveal the information she decided to come find out for herself." Doom continued.

"Why though? Why would she come all the way out here to check?" Panda questioned.

"We all know how she's been since Peter died. She was devastated... broken. She needed to leave and wasn't going to come back. Now seeing that there's someone going around impersonating him, she's probably furious. We... should probably tell her, hopefully before she gets to Peter herself." Otto answered.

"Agreed." Doom said. "But since she has left I cannot contact her. So we must wait until she arrives and hurry to intercept her." He continued.

"Alright. Well... if there's nothing left to do, I'm off to my lab. Good luck to you." Otto excused himself.

Otto left the meeting with the rest of the occupants also taking their leave and went to his lab to meet with Peter who hopefully had everything from the box unloaded and ready to work on.

Upon entering the lab Otto saw the contents of the box out on display on the work bench, the robot had a head, torso and right arm all of which were still unfinished and needed refinement.

"Peter." Otto greeted seeing the young man examine the robotic parts closely.

"Otto." He said turning towards him. "This is everything inside the box. I've still got the data and code to examine too." He showed the chip containing the downloaded components.
