"How do you always get hurt like this? Like, seriously." I close the apartment door and lock up. I gently hold Beomgyu's arm and guide him to the couch.
"You know I can walk right?"
"You know I can slap you right?"
He shuts his mouth and curls up on the couch. I walk towards the drawer next to the kitchen and pull out the first aid kit.
He turns around to look at me, skeptical and he raises his brows. "I'm sorry, but I do not trust you with that."
"What, my brother's a nurse." I shrug.
"Yeah, he is. You aren't. Nursing isn't a hereditary thing."
"Even if it was, I wouldn't do such a great job. But, I've spent so much time up in the nurse's office, so I know exactly what she does."
"Maybe it's cause you purposely throw yourself forward so that you get whacked in the head with a ball."
"Don't question my tactics to get out of shit."
I grab a towel and wet it with cold water from the kitchen sink and take a seat on the coffee table in front of the couch, facing Beomgyu. I raise the wet piece of cloth and rest it on his right cheek. It's bright red and looks itchy. He winces and raises his hand to lightly to grab my wrist.
"I know it stings, but I can't really do much about it. You're just gonna have to deal with it." I dab his cheek slightly, his hand still holding my wrist. "Man, they got you good."
"I'm already embarrassed as it is. Don't make it even worse for me."
I grab some antiseptic cream and rub it in slowly onto his cheek. He's got a small cut there. I wipe the dry blood off and grab a band aid, placing it on his cheek.
He huffs out loud. "I'm sorry, I'm just really embarrassed."
"Hey, don't be. I don't care. Besides, let's be honest for a second. Ain't no way you're more embarrassing than me."
"Yeah, that's true," he laughs.
I smack him lightly on his shoulder.
"I still remember that one time at school, where you were up on that stage because you begged Mr Kim to let you be a part of the management team for the school talent show. You tried carrying the speakers up on stage all by yourself and ended up tripping over the wires, bonking your head on the microphone. I still remember the loud feedback it gave out. And if that wasn't enough, you fell off the stage too."
"God, don't remind me. If it weren't for Kang Tae catching me, that was probably the day I would've died."
He starts laughing loudly, his head bopping back and forth in laughter.
"Don't make me poison you."
"What would you even poison me with?" he asks out of breath from laughing.
"I've watched a lot of crime documentaries, do not test me."
"Hey, I just remembered something else," he perks up.
"Lord have mercy," I mutter, cleaning a cut on his forehead.
"It was our Grade 10 finals I think, and the subject was math."
"I think I know where this is gonna go," I sigh.
"You had Taehyun sitting right next to you, and the last ten minutes you begged him to show you his answers and you were so blind that you were leaning over to his side and eventually you fell off your chair. You literally toppled over. Your table fell right on you." He starts laughing again. "It was so hilarious, you just on there on the floor with a table crushing you."
