Choi Beomgyu🎸

"Come on Beomgyu, the emergency room is this way," The kind, blonde haired man smiled. Should I call him 'Mr Sunshine'? He sure looks that way. The bright hair, and the constant smiling.

I look down to the name tag pinned on his scrubs, again, and see the words 'Park Jimin'. Yeah I'll just stick with Mr Park.

"Uh...can we not go to the emergency room?" I ask hesitantly. "I mean is there any other way I can get my arm treated that's not...there?"

"Well yeah, I guess. I'm gonna have to see if he's busy or not though. Wait here for a second. I'm gonna go check if he's in his office," says Mr Park as he walks away, leaving me alone in the crowded, brightly lit, white hallway.

Standing there, in the middle of chaos, I could feel the bile making its way up my throat. I close my eyes, as I struggle to swallow, overwhelmed by the scent of disinfectant and blood.

Hospitals terrify me. I can feel the sadness, despair and hopelessness surrounding me, slowing seeping onto me as well. Mr Park was way too enthusiastic for someone who worked here.

I see Mr Park come back again as he urges me towards him. He takes me into an elevator and takes us up to the 3rd floor. He walks around a couple of hallways, all which look the same to me, and comes to a stop at the 'Orthopaedic Department'.

We halt when we come across a large, stark white door, decorated with a golden plaque that read the words, 'Doctor Kim Seokjin'. I follow him as he walks into a room and swings the door open.

"Seokjin Hyung! My man. How you doing?" Mr Park says to the man in a white coat and circular glasses, a stethoscope around his neck, twirling about in his chair.

"Jimin," the man sighed, "Nice to see you again for the sixth time today, but who's counting?" They both reach out to each other and engage themselves in a hug, repeatedly patting each others shoulders.

"I already told you I'm out of coffee packets okay? Seriously, how many times are you gonna walk in just for that?" The man continues wearily, pulling away from the hug.

"I'm not here for that okay. I've already had two cups today. Though I wouldn't mind another cup right about now."

"Your point, Jimin?" The doctor questions,an eyebrow raised.

"Oh right. Hyung, this is Beomgyu," Mr Park says gesturing towards me. "Beomgyu, Doctor Kim Seokjin."

Doctor Kim gives me a smile and lends his hand out towards me.

"Broken arm, dude," Mr Park whispers even though I can hear everything.

"Oh right, sorry. Beomgyu, may I have the form please?" I stretch out my arm and give him the form as Mr Park urges me to take a seat.

"Okay, let's see. Name: Choi Beomgyu, Age: 18, Phone number, Resident ID number, Address, blah blah blah."

He stops suddenly, raising his eyes to stare at me through his glasses, curiously. I feel unnerved under his gaze.

"Beomgyu, you didn't fill out your guardian details," Doctor Kim points out.

"Do I really have to? It's just a little fracture. I can handle it," I say hoping they wouldn't ask me to fill that out.

"Hey, I'll fill it out," Mr Park says. He looks at me and then continues, "For the formality of course. No one's gonna know anyway." Doctor Kim hands him the form and takes me over to examine my arm and take an x-ray.

"Okay, it isn't that bad. You will need a cast for about 2 to 3 weeks but you'll be fine. You'll also need to undergo surgery after your first week, so I'll give you a call and we can book an appointment, but don't worry, it's nothing too serious," he assures me. He cleans my arm with some disinfectant, wraps a bandage around it, and then puts on the cast.
