had been at Mr scrooges house for roughly 8 hours being shown the ropes by Miss Greening his soon to be previous house keeper.
She was a rather stern looking women with no room for humour.
She had collected me from the asylum And we had walked the 3 miles back to my new residence Not many words were exchanged on the journey, I'm not sure how much she new about i preferred not find out so the silence was a blessing not to mention walking this far almost killed me , yes im being dramatic but walking and breathing was difficult.

The house is rather large and extreamly run down but Mrs greening explained Mr scrooge doesn't like his belongings being moved or touched my responsibilities will include cooking, cleaning the kitchen changing bed sheets ,shopping and any other odd job he requires.

He appeared to live alone no children or wife to speak of I did notice there was no portraits of family, i wonder why , although its not like I had any family any more either, no one had visited me over the years , not my mother, brothers , sisters not even my grandmother who had practically raised me. Not even one of them had written me, the scandle had ripped my family apart.
But here was a man who clearly had wealth and power but no reminders of those he loves.

I assisted Miss Greening in preparing tonight's meal Luckily in my younger years I'd spend many days With the staff at my home helping them prepare for my family So I had some basic knowledge I did notice several cook books on a shelf in the kitchen so I knew in the future I would have some assistance Although miss greening snapped at me several times throughout the day Telling me I'd peeled the potatoes wrong or I need to cut the vegetables In a better fashion although I think the outcome was quite agreeable and the meal looked rather tasty.
My mouth was watering the entire day I haven't seen a meal like this in so long and it's was Ecstatic when I was told that we got a plate also.

Miss greening took the food up to the dining room whilst I started to clean the kitchen ready for breakfast tomorrow.
She cluttered down the stairs and informed me she was now leaving for the evening and will return at 6am to help prepare.

A sigh of relief left me as I heard her leaving it would give me a chance to accommodate with my new surroundings whilst not being watched and analysed, she had been most helpful but every step I took I could feel her gaze upon me.

I ate my dinner once I washed and cleaned the dinning room and kitchen and utensils of course but I have never enjoyed a meal like this before, I had forgotten food could have taste.
The taste of salt, simple salt, was beautiful.
My stomach was pushing against my clothes knowing there will be a button mark left behind.
Just for about 2 minutes I felt content.
Basic and simples foods was all that was offered at the asylum, the more bland the food the less energy we have and less energy we have the easier we for the staff to control us, well atleast that's why I think they starve us.

There was a small room adjacent to the kitchen With a small bed and night stand I guessed would be my living quarters for the foreseeable future.

I began to remove my clothes just the first few buttons are opened when I could hear tapping coming down the stairs i poked my head around the door and there sat in the middle of the kitchen floor Was the most agreeable dog I've ever seen
"Well hello there"
Her ears pricked up at my voice and her tail wagged happily and she plodded over to see me.
"So who are you beautiful" I asked as I gave a generous scratch behind her ear, I took her tag into my hand that read 'prudence'

"Well prudence it's a pleasure to meet you" holding my hand out and she readily responds with her paw.
"Let's see what we have for you shall we"
On the plate I had left there was still 2 pieces of meat left.
"Oh maybe you miss would find this most agreeable hmm"
Her tail picks up speed so I place the plate in front her and she wastes no time in consuming every last bit.
