A few days later, Ember and the rest of the gang (minus Sandy) were gathered in the noodle shop as the Mayor was congratulating MK.

Ember didn't even know Megapolis even had a mayor. But eh, what did she know? She was still trying to settle back down, and there was a lot she forgot in her time traveling.

"Thank you for this amazing turnout!" The Mayor exclaimed, holding up a strange, skeletal-looking key. He had a wide, unsettling grin stretched on his face.

"Woohoo!" Mei cheered, happy for her friend. "Let's hear it for Monkie Kid! Hero of the city!"

"You're the man, Monkie Man!" The blue-haired demon clapped, joining in on the cheering.

"As Mayor," he continued, "I hereby give Monkie Kid the key to our fair city." And, sharply turning so he faced the young man, he snapped his arm out and dropped the key into MK's hands. The Mayor's sharp and jerky movements kinda reminded Ember of a robot.

The instant MK touched the key, his eyes suddenly glowed blue for an instant, and his whole body went rigid. It was so fast, Ember barely had time to process what had happened before MK began questioning the Mayor.

"Uhm... what does this key do, exactly?" He asked, scratching his head.

The unhinged male casually leaned against the podium.

"Oh. You'll love this. It has the power to open anything!"

Mei gasped, suddenly right up in the man's face and clinging to the edge of the podium. Anything? Like a pet shop full of puppies?!"

Ember giggled. Mei was just so gosh darn adorable sometimes!

She froze up at that sudden thought. Ember blushed and frantically shook her head. That was random. Before Ember could over analyze anything, she suddenly heard the Mayor mention something about an ancient mystic power source, which sounded hella suspicious.

But before anything could question that, the Mayor frantically shook his body.

"Or whatever you like!!" He exclaimed, that insane grin still stretched across his face. "Today, you can do no wrong! You've got my permission! Because... I'M THE MAYOR!" He shouted, before cackling like a deranged crackhead and vanishing in a poof of blue smoke.

"Huh. I'm starting to think... that's maybe not the Mayor." Mei said, casually leaning against the wooden stand.

"I didn't even know we had a mayor." Ember muttered.

MK turned his attention to the uniquely-shaped key in his hand. "Wow... a key that can open anything."

The trio immediately exchanged excited glances.

"Okay! Where should we head first? I was thinking the arcade! 'Cause then we can—!"

"Ember? Is that you?"

The trio turned to see Rosalina walking up to them, smiling and waving.

"Oh! Hi, Rosalina! Long time no see!" Ember greeted back, returning the gesture. Mei looked at the two in confusion.

"Uh, who's this, Em?" She asked.

Ember snapped her fingers. "Oh, right! You haven't met yet. Guys, this is Rosalina! Rosalina, these are my friends MK and Mei!"

Rosalina smiled. "It's nice to meet you both! Where are you guys heading off to?"

"Oh! We were actually just about to hit the arcade. Wanna join us?" MK asked, excited for the potentially new friend. Rosalina nodded.
