An anxious day out

It was Chinese new year, and a few of the gym leaders decided to head off to a festival. Safe to say you were NOT happy about this, all the people, loud noises, all the smells of food, it sounded nice to all the gym leaders, but a nightmare for you. Piers just didn't like going outside of Spikemuth, he didn't enjoy festivals unless he was on the playing field of a stadium.
You and Piers reluctantly got dragged out to the train station by Leon and boarded the train. You sat next to Piers while Leon sat across the aisle on his phone. Piers had met you in Wedgehurst earlier that day to hang out with you and your pokémon.
"Piers?" you whispered to him, and he looked at you.
"I don't- I don't think I can do this. I feel like I'm gonna have a panic attack as soon as I even see the crowd," you said as you turned to face him.

No matter how scary Piers looked, he had a lot of sympathy for the people close to him.

"If you get worried, tell me please, and I can try and help you. Is there anything that would make you more comfortable?"
"When we get off the train, can I maybe hold onto your coat? I don't want to get lost..."
"Of course, that's okay. Is there anything else?"
"I have my earphones, and music calms me
down. Other than that, not really. Just have to power through it."
"We can stay for a few hours and then make an excuse. It's not exactly like I wanted to go either."
You leaned on his shoulder and he placed his head on top of yours.
"Tell me if you're not okay while we're out, and we can try and sort something out," he whispered to you softly.

you two weren't dating, but you weren't exactly just friends either. He kisses your forehead on some occasions and you two kissed once, although it was accidental. You both never talked about it. You had slept in the same bed together multiple times (not sexually) while cuddling, you had even been accused of dating by the media while Piers was a gym leader although now the focus is more on the new champion and the new gym leaders stepping up (Marnie and Bede). Point is, you two were in a grey area in your friendship and relationship.

You arrived in Hammerlocke (where the festival was happening) and Leon practically dragged you off the train and into the crowd. You quickly latched onto Piers' arm, while he glared at Leon for dragging you into an uncomfortable situation.

You all met up with Nessa, Gordie, Bea and Allister at a restaurant. The food was good, and you really enjoyed it. There were Chinese lanterns hung up outside, and there were a lot of children running around with paper dragons. You and Allister found a stall with stuffed animals, and you bought him a little red rabbit (his Chinese zodiac is the rabbit). Bea ended up getting stopped by religious extremists with Piers and she left with a free mental beating as well as a religious book (Piers found this absolutely hilarious). The festival was still pretty quiet at this point, and you were just slightly unnerved. You met up with Piers again and you held onto the side of him again.

"you feeling alright?" he asked.
"Yeah, a little on-edge but not quite an anxiety attack."
"that's always good."
You moved your arm and hugged him, and he hugged you back almost instantly. The cold January air hit both of you, and the cold made him shiver.
"You cold?" you asked him.
"Nah, just the cold air catches sometimes."
You hugged him closer, trying to give him some of your body heat. He held you in his coat with his hands in his pockets, and he kissed your forehead. You nuzzled into the crook of his neck, closing your eyes.
"I really don't want this place to get busier..." you said to him, sorrow and fear fuelling your voice.
"As I said on the train, you can hold onto me and we can leave as soon as you feel anxious."
You smiled at what he said and while moving your head, you kissed his neck accidentally. Piers thought nothing of it, but you were blushing so hard you swore you were the same colour as Kabu's Centiskorch. Allister and Bea walked over to you two and Allister tugged softly on your shirt.
"Yeah?" you asked softly, kneeling down to his level. He whispered in your ear "Can we go try some of the games?". You nodded at him and you followed him to the game stands.
"You're getting along well, huh" Bea told Piers while looking at her phone.
"They're sweet, can you blame me."
"Huh," she said, looking up from her phone, "Opposites attract I guess. You have fallen head over heels for them, haven't ya?"
"they're cute yeah, but not totally head over heels."
"Okay... so more the fact that you've realised you love them but you've become too detached from your emotions because you've been taking care of Marnie for 13 years, so now you feel like you can't let them know that you love them because you've never felt better. and you're worried they'll leave you if you tell them your true feelings."
"what the actual fuck- how did you come up with that?"
"am I right?"
"How did you-"
"Piers," Bea stood in front of him with a stern look, "Am. I. Right."
Piers paused for a second to look over at you smiling with Allister. He scoffed and looked back at Bea.
"Fuck, yeah, yeah you are. Older sibling senses I guess." He said while taking his phone out.
You had won Allister a red envelope and behind his back, you put in 100 pokédollars and gave it to him. He walked over to Bea and gave it to her, and she just gave it right back to him.
