*LAURYN'S POV*
As I was getting ready to clock out, that's when Symphony walked in. I seen that she got dropped off by Dave, so I tried just to ignore it and not let that bother me.

"Hey, girls! I'm here to get my hair done!"

"I'm about to leave, I just clocked out. Your brother is taking me out for dinner. You have to go to Mariah because Tiff and Nique have appointments in like twenty minutes."

I responded. Symphony looked at me with a puzzled look on her face.

"What's wrong? You seem miserable."

"I'm not miserable, I'm just tired. I had a long ass day. I rather just go home and rest, but Clarence really wants to take me out. So I accepted his offer."

"Girl, please. You can always go out with Clarence another day. His ass will be perfectly fine."

Just at that moment, I heard a horn honk outside. Looking over Symphony's shoulder and out the window, I seen it was Clarence.

"I gotta go. I'll hit you up later or something."

I said, knowing I most likely wasn't going to hit her up in no way, shape, or form.

"Oh, okay.. well, have fun with my big headed brother."

"Will do."

I grabbed my stuff and walked out to Clarence's car, getting into the front seat with him once again.

"Good evening, beautiful. I picked you out a dozen of roses, just because. How was your day at work?"

"You are too sweet, I swear. But it was so busy, I literally got through like twelve clients today."

"Damn, I could only imagine how much you guys be making in there just for one day. But look, I was gonna ask you this earlier. My family had this get together this weekend, in two days. I was wondering if you wanted to come along with me?"

Clarence questioned me as he finally drove off. A family gathering doesn't seem that bad, after all.

"Uhh, sure. I'll go with you."

"Great. Jabril is bringing his girlfriend Yasmine, and Symphony is, of course, bringing that nigga Dave."

Dave.

As soon as I heard his name, the inside of me just became frozen for a few seconds before I started to speak up again.

"Oh, wow. Okay, yeah. I'll come along with you."

I smiled, starting to text Candice that I wasn't going to be home until later.

Me; hey, Candy. I'm going out to dinner with Clarence finally. I won't be home til later on. See you soon. Xoxo

"Great! It's Finna be so much fun. I talk about you to my parents all the time. They've been dying to meet you."

"Aw, I can't wait. So, where are we going to eat?"

"I'm taking you to this spot called La Chula. That's the best Mexican joint around here. Best believe."

"Sounds great. I'm starving, too."

"Thank you so much for the dinner, Clarence. That shit was delicious. You weren't lying when you said they were the best Mexican restaurant around."

"Hell nah, I would never lie to you."

Going out with Clarence isn't such a bad idea, after all. He's very sweet, open minded, charming. Not a lot of guys out this way are like that.

"You already have an outfit for the party, right? If not, I'll take you somewhere real quick to find something."

"Oh no, it's okay. I have plenty of nice outfits I could wear. I have so much outfits but I never go out anywhere besides work."

"Aight, bet. Sounds like a plan to me."

Clarence ended up dropping me off home because I truly was exhausted. I was ready to take my ass to sleep.

"Soooo, how was your date with my brother? I take it well, because you've been out with him for over two hours."

When I walked through the front door, there was Symphony sitting there on my couch.

"Uh, yeah, what are you doing here?"

"Candice let me in. After Mariah did my hair, I decided to come over so we can spend some bestie time together. I feel like we're barely hanging out anymore."

Yeah, bitch. Because you stole my fucking man... why would I wanna be hanging around you?

"Yeah, but you know how it is to be busy with work. My job has been going crazy with clients lately. Today was one of my long days, so I'm getting ready to go to sleep. I'm exhausted."

"Oh, okay.. did Clarence mention anything to you about our family gathering this weekend?"

"He sure did. I already told him that I'll go with him."

"Good! So we can definitely hang out there then."

"Yeah. I'll see you later, Symphony. I'm going to sleep."

I looked at Symphony. She then stood up, making her way towards the front door.

"Okay, have a good night. I'm headed home myself anyways, it's been a long day for me, too. See you later, bestie."

Symphony gave me a smile, then walking out the door. I rolled my eyes after I seen she was completely gone, then making my way up the stairs.

"Ugh, finally her ass is gone! I was beginning to think she was never going to leave. She's so annoying, I don't know how anyone ever deals with her."

Candice informed me as I was walking down the hall to get to my room. I took a few steps back and went into her room.

"I don't even know why she thinks we're still extremely close. Like that ship sailed six years ago when she knew how my feelings were from Dave, and still decided to snatch him anyways."

"What a bitch. Anyways, how was your date with Clarence? It must've been quite nice if you were out with him for over two hours."

"It was nice. He's sweet, funny, charming, open minded. But still, there's just an empty piece that's missing. And that's the fact that he will never be Dave for me."

It's the truth. No matter what I do, I'm always just gonna want Dave at the end of the day.

If only he even felt the same about me...
