*LAURYN'S POV*
Once we arrived, Dave and I were shocked at how the place looked. This wasn't even their house, their parents rented the mansion out just for the party.

My guess was they invited their entire family from both sides just to have this party

My guess was they invited their entire family from both sides just to have this party.

I really can't believe that they can afford to rent out a house like this, but Symphony is walking around with a dress that looks like she's playing dress up with a six year old.

Absolutely blows my mind.

At one point, Symphony, Clarence, and Jabril went around to mingle and say hello to all of their family members. So I was at the food station, trying out some new foods I never tried out before.

It must be nice being this fancy and rich. It explains on why Clarence always has everything and can spoil me every chance that he gets.

"This is really something, right?"

Dave came out of nowhere, standing next to me. I looked up at him confused. He was waaay taller than me, so I had no choice but to look up.

Nigga is like a fucking giant.

"What do you mean?"

"All this fancy shit. I mean, I'm a hood ass nigga, I ain't used to all of this. And I know you a hood ass b —"

"Watch your mouth."

"My bad. All I'm tryna say is, we both from the hood. All this fancy shit, ain't in our nature."

Dave chuckled, grabbing a piece of cheese from the platter that was on the table.

"Just cause we're from the hood, that doesn't mean we can't be proper when it's due."

"Never said that. I just said we ain't used to it. By the way, you look very nice. I never seen you this dressed up before."

Ohhh, so NOW this nigga wants to notice me. It took for his girlfriend to dress like a big ass Apple for him to notice me?

"I appreciate that, Dave. You don't look too bad yourself. I never seen you in a suit. All the years of knowing you, I haven't even seen you in a suit for our graduations."

"I can clean up nice when I want to. I'm not just all about drugs and pussy, I promise."

"Never said that, buddy."

I said as I mocked him, taking a sip of wine. Dave shook his head, grabbing a few more pieces of cheese.

"You know what I find very ironic, Dave?"

"What's that?"

"That your girlfriend's family is extremely rich, but she's dressed like —"

"Don't even tell me about it. I already know, she looks crazy as hell. What about Clarence? He ain't ya nigga?"

Why is he suddenly so interested now in who I'm talking to and what I do?

"We're not exactly exclusive. We just started hanging out and shit. He's been chasing after me ever since the end of high school, but I never gave him the chance until now."

"Damn. You rolling with Mr. Rich boy over here. You boutta have a good ass life. Sweet and sissy rich boy."

"Now what's so wrong about being a sweet guy? Being sweet doesn't make you a sissy, it makes you a man. Not everyone wants to be getting their ass beat and cheated on every damn day, David."

"I ain't mean it like that, damn. It just seems like you're into hood guys. You fucking around with Clarence was unexpected."

Yeah, I do love hood guys..

Specifically YOU.

"Well, as you may see already, hood guys aren't so nice to me. They just body shame me every chance that they get. They're more into the bad bitches, who so happened to be skinny."

I explained myself, specifically exposing Dave and his friends. Those three are the main reason why I'm so insecure about my body image, and the reason why I've never entertained men up until this point.

Almost every single day throughout my school years, they messed with me. But still, I was madly in love with Dave..

I still am, shit..

"Lauryn, that was so high school. We're all grown as hell now. I apologize for all of that, but we were dumbass kids back then. A lot of niggas ain't even like that anymore. You really gonna hold something against me from years ago?"

"It doesn't matter if we were five years old, Dave. That still leaves scars on a person, no matter how long ago it was. That's why I enjoy hanging around Clarence. Through all these years, he's never bullied me. Not even once. He appreciates bigger females like me."

"Lauryn —"

"Imma go find Clarence. It was nice talking to you, Dave. Thanks again for the compliment."

I grabbed my glass of wine, walking away from the area and going off to find Clarence.

Eventually, I found him talking two two older people, which I assume it was his parents. I walked over to him and he seen me, so he started to smile.

"Lauryn, there you are! These are my parents; Sandra and Clarence Jr."

"Junior? So you're a third? I didn't even know that, that's so cool! It's nice to meet you both. You really raised such a sweet and caring son."

"I'm glad you think so, Lauryn. It's very nice to meet you as well. Clarence is always telling us all about you, he's head over heels for you."

Sandra said as she shook my hand with a bright smile. Clarence Junior then looked at me.

"Let me ask you a question, Lauryn."

"Yes, sir. What is it?"

"Do you have any idea on why our daughter is dressed like damn Elmo? She came up in here in that ugly ass red dress, looking like she was just casted for Sesame Street."

At that very moment, the four of us started laughing like crazy.

I don't even feel bad. Now Symphony knows exactly how I felt when I used to get bullied, and she stopped none of it.

She can change her bad fashion, but I can't help how my body type is.
