The drive home had been long, they really didn't want to leave the cottage; it felt too like home. Now they were returning to reality; working, dealing with the media, managing a team, finding oneself. Their few nights away had been paradise but now it was over. Mew knew getting back into working would be a difficult process...especially now he was bringing Gulf into the picture. He didn't tell Gulf any of this, he didn't want him to be worried.
It was now a few weeks after their holiday and during these days, Mew was busy preparing all the legal hiring documents and making sure Gulf was provided with everything he needed. And on one sunny Monday morning, Gulf would officially start his new job. He waited outside his condo complex, leaning against a wall and scrolling through his phone, trying to distract himself from all the nerves. Mew had insisted on taking him in, it would make for an easy introduction and Gulf was rather grateful for his consideration. When Mew pulled up in front of him, he was taken aback by the man's appearance. He was in a suit; dark navy trousers with a matching blazer and waistcoat, a light blue tie and a crisp white shirt. He looked fucking great. Mew rolls down his window, leaning across the passenger's seat to look out at him.
"Wow!" Mew catches Gulf's attention. The now secretary walked forward and opened the door. "You look smart," Mew says as Gulf settles in his seat. Gulf then looks him up and down. Mew's dressed as he usually was; a nice blazer with matching trousers and a tie.
"Don't look so bad yourself," he says jokingly. Mew then pulls out from where he had parked and off they went."How are you feeling?" Mew asks as they reach the building. Gulf had spent the entire car journey picking at his cuticles and bouncing his knees. Mew had rested a hand on top of his thigh and it had helped for a little while but Gulf was far more nervous than he had anticipated.
"Nervous but excited. It'll be fun spending time with you." Gulf smiles through the nerves. He wasn't sure why he was so terrified; he knew Mew would take care of him and make sure he was okay but it was all so new and different. Gulf had only worn a full suit a handful of times and now he'd be wearing one every day. He'd never really spent time in an office either, everything was so precise and orderly - it was almost unnerving.
"You'll just be shadowing Tul today, he'll help you get used to how things work and I'll obviously be around if you need anything," Mew explains as they enter the building. They're instantly met with the bright lights of the entrance hall. Directly in front of them is a large desk, three workers sit, signing people in and out. Mew leads them to the desk, a smile on his face. Mew's immediately greeted by the woman at the desk. She stands, bowing her head politely and welcomes him back. Mew replies, saying that it was good to be back although that wasn't exactly true. Mew introduces Gulf to the woman, telling her that he would be his new secretary. She greets him just as kindely as she had to Mew. They're then making their way to the elevator, gaining multiple stares that Mew quickly brushes off. Gulf tries not to let them affect him but it's hard; he wasn't used to being under the public eye in the way Mew was. He wasn't used to getting this kind of attention. They're soon standing in the lift with three other people. It's not exactly cramped but Gulf feels the air getting hot and his breathing becomes rapid. Mew notices, of course he did, he had been keeping an eye on Gulf from the moment they walked in. He knew this was different for him, that it would take time to adjust and this was only temporary. He didn't want Gulf to stress over this. He taps Gulf's hand, his finger brushing over Gulf's thumb, gaining his attention. Anyone would have said it was accidental but Gulf knew it wasn't. Mew looked at him with concern, soft round eyes and a gentle smile. Gulf instantly felt at ease, his breathing returning to just about normal as they left the elevator. Now they were on Mew's floor. It's a large room, rows of desks with people occupying almost every spot. It's overwhelming, seeing so many people stand and welcome you. "Good morning, everyone!" Mew announces. Gulf stands next to him, looking like a lost child. "This is Gulf Kanawut, he'll be working as my secretary for a while," Mew explains. There's a range of comments, most of which Gulf can't actually hear - he supposes it's a good thing, he didn't want to know what they thought.
