Smut Warning
The last few days at the office were surreal - labelled boxes filled with belongings occupied the rooms and it was hard to believe that this whole thing was actually happening, years of work and progress all packed into cardboard boxes. Mew's own office was bare, all his books stacked into boxes, all his drawers emptied and his desk completely cleared. It felt like he was moving house. On the last day, a celebratory evening was held; it was simple but meaningful with speeches and presentations that made people laugh, cry and hide in embarrassment. Mew also made it clear that he and Gulf were dating; holding his hand and kissing his knuckles every now and again. Nobody questioned it, if anything, they were happy for the both of them - passing them smiles and congratulating them on their relationship. Everything seemed to click into place which was ironic since technically, everything had just crumbled but it felt right, needed. The following Saturday morning had been blissful. Mew and Gulf taking their time to just exist. Appreciating the surprising warmth of the morning as they cuddled in bed, laying delicate kisses to each other's lips. Then when they finally decided to get up, they helped one another get dressed; Mew throwing a t-shirt over Gulf's body and Gulf doing up the zipper of Mew's jeans. They then sat at Mew's dining table, drinking tea and eating the pancakes they had gotten quite good at making.
It was peaceful; just the two of them, enjoying each other's company. This was what Mew had always wanted though he never thought it was possible until he met Gulf. Everything about him was so precious; the way he loved, the way he cared and taught Mew, he was Mew's everything.
He's then suddenly putting down his cutlery and Gulf stares at him, pausing before finishing his mouthful.
"Gulf?" Mew's voice seems to shake, he's nervous. Gulf raises a brow, unsure of what's going on. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure..." Mew reaches across the table, taking Gulf's hand in his own and running his thumb over Gulf's knuckles. His touch is light, grazing over Gulf's skin. There's a long pause before Mew speaks again and the silence is deafening.
"Would you maybe want to move in with me?" Mew says quietly, giving Gulf a look of hope, his eyes not once leaving Gulf's. It had been building up for a little while; Mew wanted Gulf to be a more permanent feature in his life. He wanted to wake up to Gulf's pretty face every morning, wanted to feel his warm embrace, feel his skin, make food together, clean the house together, do everything and anything with him. Gulf's surprised. He hadn't expected this from Mew. He still, somehow, had it in his mind that Mew would get bored of him and move on. He supposes being younger, still fairly fresh to the real world had made him think he was more of a burden to Mew, which of course, as Mew had reminded him many times, he was not. Gulf swallows hard, he thinks for what feels like hours but is only really seconds.
"Yeah...yeah! Sure, why not?" Gulf's smiling, his cheeks almost immediately hurting from the grin he wears. Mew stares at him in disbelief, it takes him a moment to register Gulf's answer and he's immediately standing, walking over to where Gulf sat, crouching to the ground and taking both Gulf's hands in his own.
"Really? I was thinking maybe we could move towards the coast, be closer to your family, start fresh, if you want to?" Mew barely finishes his sentence before Gulf's pouncing onto him, wrapping his arms around Mew's shoulders, toppling him over and landing on top of him. He's quick to find Mew's lips, pressing them together and sealing the deal. It meant a lot to him anyway; that Mew wanted them to move in together but the fact that Mew wanted to move out from this palace so Gulf could be closer to his family, that's what had the other grinning from ear to ear as he kissed Mew.And so the search began. Gulf's condo was put up for sale and he was currently enjoying his stay at Mew's house. Mew ensured Gulf accompanied him to every house they visited; this had to be their decision, not just Mew's. Then finally, they found a place that was quite literally perfect. It was much smaller compared to Mew's house, it still had two floors and a nice sized garden. They weren't far from the beach either, they could just about see it from their kitchen window. They had two bedrooms - one was an ensuite and the other would become the spare room. Mew instantly fell in love with the living area; it was a comfortable size with a fireplace and a wood burner. And soon enough, they were moving in.
