Today, all of us are going to the LAX airport. By all of us, I mean the entire family. We're going to Hawaii for a whole week. It is so cool and awesome that we're going to go there for a vacation because I've never been there before and it's my dream to go there. It's for Jay's birthday, but we're going to celebrate it as a family. Mom has other surprises for Jay in store for him during this vacation.

To start, it's only Mom and Jay who are going to be at the airport first. Then Manny and I are going to take a ride by Claire and Phil who will drive the rest of us kids at the airport. Phil lets us out of the car so he can take all of our suitcases out with the porter. The family will meet each other inside the terminal and then we see Jay and Mom sitting with each other about to surprise them with our appearance.

"Happy birthday!" We happily exclaim together.

"What the heck?!" Jay asks in shock at us.

"Surprise, Dad!" Claire says after hugging and kissing him.

"The whole family is coming with us!" Mom says excitedly, smiling.

"They are?!" Jay still sounds shocked.

"Uh huh." Claire answers.

"Yes, and Mitch and Cameron and Lily, too." Mom adds.

"Yeah, and Phil is just checking the bags." Claire says.

"Wow. That's...wow!"

"Well, it was all Gloria's idea. She bought all of our tickets and everything." Claire explains.

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Everyone's?" Jay turns around in his seat to look at my mother.

"It's your birthday. I didn't spare any expense." Mom says.

"Thank you, honey," Jay gets up, laughing with her and put his arm around her shoulders. "Are they, uh, all gonna be up with us in first class?"

"Ay, no, silly goat. You think I'm made of money?" Mom laughs and hugs him.

"Of course not." I hear him mutter.

Mom's heart is in the right place, but him and I both know damn well that she spent his money.

Good for her.

While we're waiting for our plane, I sit with Haley and Alex. Haley is sitting in the middle of us. I've been texting my friends. They're jealous that I'm going to Hawaii. I promise to bring them back souvenirs.

"Hey, check out that cute guy." Haley tells us, making Alex and I look at the guy he's staring at.

He is cute, but in a boyish way. Looks pretty young for Haley.

Alex snorts. "He's out of your league. He's reading a book."

"I know." Haley replies as if that turns her on.

Alex and I exchange our weirded out looks to Haley then at each other.

"And he looks too young for you." I add.

"So?" She rolls her eyes like as if that doesn't matter. "I can be like...a cougar or something."

"Gross." Alex and I cringe together.

"What's wrong with Dylan?" I ask. "He's a singer, talented-"

"And really dumb," Haley interrupts. "He wouldn't even read a book."

"I doubt he can read a book." Alex quips as she's reading her own novel.

"I wonder what it is he's reading?" Haley asks curiously. "Probably something like really smart."
