Minghao always thought the worst part of award shows were the other groups.

One thing Seventeen could always be thankful for was their calm fans who didn't get involved in fan wars and didn't fight between themselves. They were happy, supportive and peaceful.

Other groups weren't so lucky. The Army-Blink fan wars were always brought in award shows, and other fandoms always joined in, planning black oceans for their least favourite groups. Having been a victim of the black ocean, Seventeen knew how horrible they were.

Another part of the award shows was the stress. The diets that came beforehand, the endless practice runs of their stages. The outfit changes and checks.

Seventeen were currently sitting in front of the stage, watching Monsta X perform. EXO were next and during that performance, they would be heading backstage to get their outfits on and get their makeup done.

The Monsta X performance was soon over and Seungcheol grabbed Minghao by the wrist to lead him backstage with the rest of the members.

They were all quick to get into their outfits, Minghao wearing a gorgeous traditional-style white and gold outfit with white boots. Some staff made him take off his medical necklace and bracelet alongside his watch, which made him a little wary but he did, handing them over to their manager for safekeeping.

Minghao left his bag by the couch when they went on stage, knowing he'd need to check his blood sugar straight after the performance, eat some candies and take his corticosteroids and fludrocortisone pills so his blood sugar and adrenal levels didn't drop.

Minghao was just about to check his blood sugar before the performance to make sure he could perform when he was called away by some staff members to touch up his makeup.

"Please, Noona, I need to check my blood sugar." Minghao pleaded as he was sat down and his makeup was touched up.

The makeup artist sighed. "This will only take a minute."

Minghao rolled his eyes, earning a small scolding before sitting in silence as she fixed the smudged eyeliner.

The makeup didn't 'only take a minute'. It took five. His eyeshadow was changed to a smokier look and his eyeliner was reapplied. He was given slightly darker lipstick and even his hair was changed slightly.

The moment his makeup was finished, they were called out to the stage to perform.

The moment the lights turned off and their performance ended, Minghao knew he had made a mistake not taking his reading. Sweat was dripping down his face, his hands were trembling and he was feeling weaker and weaker by the moment, vision slowly blurring.

Minghao got to their dressing room and mumbled something about going to the bathroom before grabbing his bag and his medical bracelet, heading down to the bathroom to check his blood sugar.

Minghao set his bag down beside the sinks, digging out his blood sugar monitor and three boxes. One had his hydrocortisone pills, another his fludrocortisone pills, and the third had his dextrose tablets.

After getting out all of his medications and his monitor, he grabbed both his emergency injection kits and set them on the side. Once he had all the important things out of his bag, he opened the blood sugar kit and got the glucometer out of its case with the lancing device and the test strips.

He quickly set the things on the side and washed his hands, drying them off carefully and grabbing the lancing kit and pricking his finger.

Realising that in his rush to get his blood tested he'd forgotten to put the testing strip into the machine, Minghao did just that, arms still shaking as the machine turned on and he pressed his finger to the testing strip, letting it soak up the blood.
