Seungcheol was quiet as he walked through the dorm, knowing a few members were taking their free time to catch some extra sleep. They really needed a dorm that didn't have creaky floors. The eldest finally came to stop outside of a beautiful door that had been painted white with splats of rainbow paint dripping to the bottom. Minghao's name was written at the top in Chinese. He pushed it open and walked inside, seeing Minghao sitting on his bed with a book.
"Hey, HaoHao. I just wanted to make sure you've checked all your kit recently. Just to make sure it's all working correctly. We can't have your glucometer giving us a wrong reading when you're low, can we."
Minghao looked up from his Chinese book and shook his head. "I haven't for a while. How often should I do it?"
"Every few weeks, I think," Seungcheol said, sitting down on Minghao's bed and picking up the bag from where it was tucked between the bed and the nightstand. "I can help you go through everything?"
Minghao nodded and put his bookmark between the pages of his book, setting it down on the nightstand.
Seungcheol emptied the bag onto the bed between them and separated the things into the categories 'Addison's disease' and 'hypoglycaemia'.
On the Addison's disease pile were Minghao's Hydrocortisone injection kit and his boxes of corticosteroids and fludrocortisone pills. On the hypoglycaemia pile was his glucometer kit, glucagon injection kit, dextrose tablets and dextrose gel.
"Okay. We need to check the glucometer with the control solution, and we should check the dates on everything."
Minghao nodded and grabbed the glucometer case, unzipping it and pulling everything out. Seungcheol helped him get out a test strip and put it into the machine. Minghao then put one drop of the solution onto the test strip.
The machine beeped and showed the result, which was in the correct range for the solution.
Seungcheol smiled and let Minghao throw away the test strip.
"Now we know it's still working right, can I check your blood sugar?" Seungcheol asked, watching as Minghao nodded and got out the lancing device. "Good, go wash your hands."
Minghao walked off to the bathroom just down the corridor, coming back a minute later and sitting back down. Seungcheol had already put in a new test strip and put a new needle in the lancing device.
Minghao pricked his finger and wiped away the first spot of blood, waiting for another spot to form and putting it on the test strip.
"You're at 120mg/dL. I think that's the highest I've ever seen you." Seungcheol joked, putting away the glucometer. Minghao chuckled softly, opening his glucagon injection kit.
"The dates are fine," Minghao said, showing Seungcheol the dates on the syringe, needle and powder.
Once they'd set the orange box to the side, Minghao grabbed the hydrocortisone kit, once again checking every piece of equipment in the box.
"This one is new so everything's fine," Minghao said, putting the green hydrocortisone kit back down and moving onto the dextrose gel and tablets, both of which were perfectly in date.
"I'll order you some more dextrose gel. You've only got a tube left." Seungcheol said, packing everything they'd checked into the bag. "When do you need to pick up your prescription?"
Minghao dropped the two pillboxes onto his nightstand. "I have a few months. Don't worry about me, Hyung. I'm doing fine."
Seungcheol smiled. "I know you are, I just love you so much I want to make sure you're doing everything right."
Minghao lay down on his bed with a sigh. Seungcheol put Minghao's bag back down beside his bed and lay down with his arms around Minghao's waist.
"Let's sleep, Hao. We have more schedules tomorrow." Seungcheol whispered, placing a gentle kiss on Minghao's neck.
Minghao sighed and leaned into Seungcheol's embrace, letting himself fall asleep knowing he was safe with Seventeen.
