As some readers know, I have been living in Belgium for some years due to academic reasons. Last Saturday, I attended the Pride Parade, and I came across the "Rainbow Cops" Association, which are LGBTI cops doing what they do best, protect and serve.

I have known for a while this association exists, and many associations like them worldwide. I first went to the parade before the pandemic in 2018, when Mo Dao Zu Shi came out, and they were marching with others, holding hands with their partners.

This parade of 2023 was memorable for them because they were allowed to attend in uniform to the Pride parade for the first time.

The rainbow cops have a lot of work to do yet. Despite the fact gay couples can adopt a child in Belgium legally since 2001, there are still many issues to tackle, like work discrimination and attacks on queer people in bars. Yet, a task force is ready to help when it involves queer people.

If you are a member of the queer community, try to look for information about these organizations in your country, they know how to help. They have been there, and they faced the same issues you did. They can help.

And yes, I got a rainbow cop bear for my sweet Amanda.
