you spent every day doing the same fucking things.
memory exorcises with your doctor, yosano.
trying to see if you were getting better or any worse with everyday that passed. but.. nothing. you didn't get better, but you didn't get worse either.
she figured it would be best to just let it come back to you in pieces. she let you work as her assistant part time since you really didn't have anywhere to go.
one of the people at the place you were staying, which surprisingly wasn't a hospital but an office for ability users. apparently you were one as well? regardless, the man, dazai was apparently his name, told you that you would be fine to stay with him since he worked in the building anyways.
you had met almost everyone at said office except for the boss they spoke so highly about. what was his name? fukumi? i'm pretty sure it was fukumi, was out on business often.
there was one boy who you liked in particular. he was nice, seemed like he had been through quite a bit of trauma. his name was atsushi, and he spoke like he knew you before your accident that has everyone hooked.
"yosano.. what are we supposed to do today?" you cleaned out her medicinal cabinet, throwing out empty pill bottles after tearing the wrapper. she shrugged in response, "well, if anyone almost dies we'll help. otherwise, nothing." she grinned at you, "you're free to go home. just remember to take your meds and get dazai to help with your exercises."
"dazai has to drive me home. i'll just wait another two hours, it's fine." you closed the cabinet, locking it up and heading into the main office. kenjis eyes sparkled when he seen you.
"[f/n]!" he grinned, quickly clinging onto your side as you winced from the pain of his arms tightening around your abdomen, "shit, not so hard." you ruffled his hair as he quickly apologized, offering you one of ranpo's candies in sorrow.
"kid, that's my candy!" you threw it back towards him before sitting in an empty desk, where junichiro normally sat.
"hey, where's jun?" you glanced towards atsushi, "sick. he has the flu." he didn't look up from the laptop sitting infront of him, continuing to type away as you nodded.
dazai was currently busy bothering kunikida, by telling him things to write in his ideals and then proceeding to tell him it was a lie. this ultimately resulted in the blonde man holding the brunette by his shirt collar, threatening to hit him.
you glanced down at your new phone, (that the agency provided.) to see no new notifications, instead, you loaded up some stupid game you downloaded from the appstore to try and pass the time quicker.
dazai shook you lightly, his hands on your shoulders as almost everyone was about to leave the building, "come on, let's go home."
you nodded, heading over to the coat rack that you had left your trench coat on, following close behind dazai as he pulled the door to a shut, locking it afterwards.
"do you wanna go get some food? or head straight home?" he questioned, his hands in his pockets as the two of you walked down the stairs. "that depends, where are we going?" you chuckled towards him as the two of you got in his car. "anywhere you want to go." he grinned towards you, reversing out of the parking lot as he waited for your answer.
"can we just cook at home? i'm a little tired."
he nodded, heading towards the direction of your shared apartment under the name of the agency.
"hey, can you help me with my exercises until we get there?" you sighed, "yosano thinks that if we keep them up, things will change."
what a joke.
he nodded, "what's your full name?"
"[f/n] [l/n]."
"how old are you?"
"twenty-three. i'm turning twenty-four this year."
"where do you work?"
"the armed detective agency."
"what is the name of your ability?"
"taken a new form."
"good. you answered those without hesitation, i'd say you might be improving." he grinned at you as he pulled up to the building. "but i'm also not a doctor, so.." he chuckled to himself, putting the car in park as he glanced over at you.
"you alright?" his hand brushed against yours which was resting on your thigh, "yeah, no.. i'm fine." you sighed, giving him a smile as you met his gaze. "just.. thinking."
a weird feeling washed over you. you decided to rub it off, probably just feeling sick.
"what's bothering you?"
"nothing, um-" you took a breath, "do you know.. anything from my past?"
he shook his head, sighing afterwards. "i've told you all i know." he shrugged, "i found you in an alleyway half dead, bruised to a pulp and brought you in. i never seen any posters or anything for a missing person."
you threw your head against the head rest, biting at your lips until they began to bleed.
"stop worrying. i'm sure we'll find something on you." his large hand snaked up onto your shoulder as you focused on the ceiling, trying to calm your breathing. "wouldn't something have come up by now? anything? it's been over a week." you smacked your hands against your legs, "fuck, how long was i even out before i woke up?"
he shrugged, "bout' a week and a half, give or take."
"so.. two and a half weeks, and nothing? fucking nothing?" you scoffed, resting your tongue against your cheek. "there's someone out there, anyone who knows who i am." your eyes felt wet, there was no way that you had everyone baffled. fuck, even atsushi spoke like he knew who you were. he spoke with fucking fear laced in his voice.
"dazai, who was i?" you chuckled sarcastically, tears beginning to overflow and hit your cheek, "atsushi knows who i am. i fucking know it. so who the fuck am i?"
he kept a stone cold expression on his face as he focused forwards. "i've told you everything i know." he scoffed, "and if we knew who you were, we wouldn't take you in."
"so, suck it the fuck up. no one knows who you are. you're lucky you even know basic facts about yourself."
you ran your tongue along your top row of teeth as dazai hopped out of the car, leaving you alone with your thoughts. you gave him the middle finger while he was walking away. what an asshole.
