Your right side now felt cold and empty, and the missing figure was enough to make you sit upright.
Vi was gone. You weren't worried for the others as you could faintly hear their voices, but you knew Vi was up to no good.
In her state of mind, and her being someone who you knew like the back of your hand, you knew she had gone out to do something stupid.

You quickly got up from your spot and went upstairs, frantically searching for anybody at this point. There you could see Vander, on his way to the door as Powder just sat on the counter, staring away at the rabbit plush.
"Vander! Please don't tell me she did what I think she did."
He turned to look at you, and replied quickly.
"Of course she did, that girl. I have to stop her before she does anything more stupid. Come on, follow me."
You nodded and followed along as Vander exited The Last drop, closing the door after you stepped out. He obviously didn't need you trailing along, but you didn't care.

Benzo was there waiting outside the door, and quickly followed along after Vander when he came into his view. Something else was happening that you didn't know of, and it caused shivers to run down your spine.

After a short while, Vander seemingly found the room Vi was hiding in as she waited to give herself up. He opened the door, and seemed to relax a little when he saw that his daughter was still sitting there, not having been taken yet.
He sighed.
"We don't have that much time."

"How did you find me?" Vi spat out as she looked up in disbelief.
"I'm proud of you, always have been."
He muttered as he grabbed her by the shoulders, placing his hands on her face as he looked intently into her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I... this is the only way to protect the others."

"No, it is not." You spoke up, approaching slightly as her eyes widened once she saw you.
"Vander!" Benzo called out, a look of panic coursing through him as he looked out the windows.
"You've both got a good heart. Don't ever lose it, no matter how much the world tries to break you.
Protect the family."

With that, he grabbed both you and Vi's arms before throwing you two inside the small room downstairs.
He quickly locked it as you stood and tried to budge your way out, Vi doing the same.
"Vander! Let us out, this isn't right!"

Outside you could hear the footsteps of The Enforcers, their boots making loud sounds when they came into contact with the floor.
You heard the door bang open, and a couple more footsteps.
"I'm guessing thats for me."
A deep voice cut through, talking about Vi. You placed a hand on her shoulder in attempts to soothe her, but she shrugged it off. Her brows pinched together as she desperately tried to open the door, or to simply find a way out.

"You gonna let us make the arrest or not?" You recognized the annoying voice as the wannabe chief Enforcer from the numerous encounters.
"You'll oblige a doomed man one last smoke. Won't you?"
The crackle of a match could be heard, and the smell of smoke wafted through the air.
Your eyes widened.
Was he really doing this?
"I'm not putting you away Vander." Said the deep voice.
"The council needs its pound of flesh."

There was a pause.
"Without you down here, it all falls apart."
"Benzo will handle things. He may not have my devilish charm, but he runs a tight ship." Replied Vander, and it caused more dispute to come from Vi reasonably so.
"Vander no! You can't do this." She desperately banged against the door and twisted the knob as hard as she could.
"You won't be back for a long time."
"I know."
The clicks of cuffs was all you could hear, before the same deep voice cut the silence again.

"Why?"
"It's the only way." He finished.
You knew there was no saving him, so you stepped back and allowed Vi to lash out.
You were just as upset as she was, but you had to compose yourself.
"Benzo, open the damn door."
She banged, punched, kicked. But nothing could make the door budge, and the deal had been done.

You looked down at the floor with a twinge of sadness, before you heard wails coming from the outside.
"What's happening?"
She asked, as you both neared the window to get a better view.
"I.."

"Stop right there!"
The Enforcer was knocked down by some unknown force, just as blood stained the window entirely.
You gasped, and stepped back.
From the near corner of the sight in front of you, you could see a familiar figure. One that you never wanted to see ever again, let alone anywhere near the people you cared about.

"Silco." You mumbled, fists clenching with anger.
"Silco? You animal! Go crawl back into whatever hole you came out of."
"Benzo stay back!" The faint voice of Vander stated.
"You never did know when to walk away."

With that, and inhumane figure pounced on Benzo just as he neared him, blood spattering everywhere. Vander yelled out for his friend, but knew it was too late.
The monstrosity in front of you who had just killed Benzo was abnormally large, and had familiar purple streaks run down his discolored skin. Shimmer.

"Stubborn to the end."  He finished, unbothered by his acts of cruelty.
"What the hell have you done?! This wasn't the deal!"
"Deal's changed."
The rattle of coins could be heard, just as the figure moved towards Vander.
"No.."
Vi muttered.
"No!"

His fist collided with Vander's face, and Vi let out a wail. Tears veiled your eyes as the scene in front of you sunk in, and all you could do was watch. She fell to the floor as you saw Vander get dragged away by Silco's horrid creation, leaving you with no hope that this was ever gonna get better.

Kneeling down to her level, Vi could only fall into your arms as she sobbed. You cradled the poor girl back and forth, but couldn't help the tears that fell down your face either.
This was horrible,
and you couldn't help but feel guilty.
