There were bullets. The sound of his heart monitor beeping madly. Hearing himself scream and roar in pain. These things rang in Sonic's head when he woke up with his heart racing in fear. He was in a house, tucked in a comfortable bed, but not his apartment in Shamar. He happened to hear a faint breeze come into the house with his hearing, which soothed his racing heart and slightly shaking gloveless hands. Sonic looked down at them, seeing that they were covered in blisters. His whole body was a bit messy and also covered in some cuts and scratches, but it seemed that his rescuer had tended to his wounds. He even realized that he wasn't wearing his hoodie anymore.

When Sonic got out of the bed he was in, he noticed his sockless feet. It looked so weird seeing him with no shoes on. What shocked him was that he spotted some new shoes on the edge of the bed, polished and cleaned up too. Sonic did remember waking up slightly in a jungle before passing out again. What happened to me yesterday? It almost felt like a dream, but yet real at the same time, Sonic thought to himself. He shook his head, since it hurt from the other day, still trying to recall what happened. Sonic nearly wobbled, so he grabbed onto something to try and keep his balance. His legs were weakened, and his arms felt like lead. I need to sit down, he thought, so Sonic plopped down onto the floor and sighed.

His rescuer, a human female who looked like she was in her twenties, walked into his guest room. "Oh, Mr. Sonic! You're finally awake!" she said happily. "Where am I? What location is this?" he asked the woman. "You're in Adabat. I found you passed out in the jungle near the town. You looked pretty wounded, so I brought you back to my place and nursed you back to full health," she explained. Sonic's eyes widened in surprised. Adabat?! How did I run all the way from Shamar to here?! his mind screamed. He had to think and retrace his steps, making the woman look at him in confusion. "Sorry Miss. It's just that I had an apartment I lived at in Shamar, and it seems like I might of ran from there to here," he explained.

Sighing, the woman said, "I know about what happened to you. The attack on Station Square five months ago? I'm sorry for what the doctor did to you." Sonic tensed up a bit and looked at her. He then hugged her. "Thank you...." Sonic said with a few tears. "It's ok Mr. Sonic. Really," she replied. After the hug, Sonic told her to not call him Mr. and just call him by his normal name. The woman introduced herself as Lilac, and Sonic decided to stay with her for a few days until someone he knew came to find him. He was safe from GUN once again, but was still far from home. Yet he knew how he ended up in Adabat now. He remembered running from the soldiers, and one of them hitting him with a stun dart. He must of transformed, and ran away to Adabat before passing out and returning to normal. That explained his gloveless hands and bare feet.

Lilac had some spare socks for Sonic to change into and even sewed him a new pair of gloves for him to wear. Before he forgot, he thanked her for rescuing him and healing his wounds and for getting him some new shoes and socks. When Sonic's legs regained their strength, he headed towards the jungle to go for a run. No one was around, so it felt nice and wonderful to get some fresh air while doing a few laps around the jungle. He missed Annabelle and Tails, how sometimes they would fly along side him during his runs. Sometimes he wished he could run up the rocky cliffs and beat Knuckles whenever he climbed up them. If Shadow didn't decide to join GUN, Sonic didn't mind racing Shadow again.

When his run ended, Sonic decided to explore the town a bit. He enjoyed smelling the air and hearing the sound of the waves as much as he despised water. There were a few shops around the area, and the fact that the town was built above sand and water intrigued him a bit. There even was a port for planes and boats too. He imagined seeing the Tornado parked at that dock, and watch as Tails and Annabelle came out of it and hugged him so tightly they never wanted to let go. It would be a wonderful sight to behold, and Sonic couldn't wait for that day to come. His daydream broke when Lilac spotted him near the dock and called out his name. "Oh, hey! Sorry. I was just headed back now," he explained.

Laughing, Lilac said, "I know how you never like to stay still. After all, you are Sonic the Hedgehog." Sonic gave her one of his half smiled smirks and pointed at himself. "That's my name and don't wear it out!" he boasted, making her laugh again. The two ended the day with some supper at a local grill restaurant. Sonic decided to try one of their hot dogs. Not a chili dog, but something different, since he was still craving meat. The two enjoyed their food under the tropical sunset, chatting and having a good time. It reminded Sonic of the days when he chatted with his friends.

After when she paid the bill, the two returned to Lilac's house to call it a night. Sonic wished her goodnight as he sped into his guest bedroom and slipped his shoes off, placing them on his bed's edge once again. He even placed his gloves in his nightstand drawer. It was a shame that they would rip when he changed again, but they would still be special to him since a new human friend of his made them for him. Sonic heard the waves from outside, which clamed his nerves again. Tomorrow is a new day. Everything will be ok. You'll have this Werehog problem done and over with, Sonic told himself. He didn't even bother turning the news on to see if his warehouse incident was currently trending, because the waves soothed Sonic as he cuddled his pillow and fell asleep.
