The noises continued and I signaled Xander to hide immediately. He crawled under the bed while I hid under the table.

The policemen weren’t with us.

It was dark because of no light, but we heard the door of the cupboard being opened. Someone came out from the cupboard and began to breathe heavily. It sure was the oldie.

The breathing stopped and he went out.

Moments later we heard an exchange of gunshots and someone yelling to stop. I was about to get out from my hiding place when suddenly someone came rushing in to the room and opened the cupboard. It was oldie again.

At the same instance one policeman entered the room and shot through the darkness. But the old man didn’t get hit. Instead, he shot back at the policeman, who yelled in pain.

“Huh, such a good shooter?” I thought.

The environment became completely silent after that.

After few minutes, as I heard, the oldie stepped in to the cupboard and disappeared.

“Xander, it’s me! Come out!” I whispered after coming out.

“Geez! What happened? Who got shot?” He asked.

“I’ll find out, you stay here.”

As I turned on my torch, I saw the policeman covered in blood. He was already dead. The old man had shot him in the head.

Going back to Xander, I told him what had happened. As expected, he panicked at the sight of blood but I was able to calm him down. We headed towards the exit and saw the other policeman, also dead.

“What an incident? I didn’t think the oldie was a very good shooter. But appearances are deceptive.” Xander whispered and I turned off my torch.

“Me too. I’m totally shocked at his skill.”

“What now?” He asked.

“I think we have to inform my parents. They’ll get help.” I replied. “But we must not let the oldie escape. He will try to escape definitely.”

“Time for a masterplan then?” He asked.

I nodded.

“I’m coming for you oldie.” I whispered.

I ordered Xander to go back to the room. After he left, I turned on my torch again and searched for the policeman’s gun. It was lying there beside the dead body.

“Fine. One more gun to collect.” I thought and went back to the room.

Xander was sitting on the bed amidst the darkness.

“Geez! You scared me!”

“Sorry!” He said.

“Can you use a gun?” I asked.

“No. I never did use one! Do you know how to use one?” He asked me.

“Well, I kind of know how to, because I have seen people use them in the movies.” I told him.

“What? Amber, are you crazy? You might get both of us killed!” He whispered loudly.

“Trust me, I won’t!” I said. “I’m going to use one for sure, even if you don’t use.”

“BE CAREFUL THEN.” He folded his arms. “Are you sure about this?”

“Pretty much.” I replied.

“Mhm. It’s only us now.” He said.

“Yeah. I know.”

“What is your plan?” He asked.

“Ok listen.”
