“Wait, we have to contact our parents.” Xander got up to find a phone. The dead policeman had one and Xander gave it to me.

“Be quick.” He said.

After explaining all about what had happened, my parents strictly ordered us to leave the place and be at the main road. I had to lie, so I said “Okay” to them.

I hung up and explained my plan to Xander.

“We have to go through this cupboard and find out the old man. It’s better if we don’t switch on our torches so we could enter without being seen.”

“What if he sees us?” Xander interrupted.

“That’s why I took this gun. For our safety.” I explained.

“He’s a good shooter. Remember?”

“Yeah, but there’s two of us. You can just aim this at him.” I gave the other gun to Xander by force. He had no other option but to take it.

“Alright. Continue.”

“If he doesn’t get to see us, which is totally our luck, we can trap him inside. We must face it accordingly.” I continued. “We have to be quick. I think we should go now. Are all clear?”

“I think so.” He replied.

We went near the cupboard.

“I’ll go first.” I said.

“Wait.” Xander interrupted.

“Why?”

“If something happens down there, don’t ask me to leave, because I won’t obey.” He said sternly.

“Alright.” I smiled at him and opened the door.

Inside the cupboard there were some clothes and hangers. Behind them was the unrecognizable door which led downstairs. I opened it and saw a staircase leading downstairs. It was noticeable because the walls along the staircase had small lights.

“Here we go.” I whispered. “Come with me.”

We went down silently. We reached the end of the staircase in no time. There was a small passage at the end of it which led to the left side. Being super careful we went along the passage and stopped when we saw a small dark room with nothing except some curtains hung upon the walls of it.

“Mysteries led in to mysteries.” Xander whispered behind my ear.

“I wonder where the oldie is.”

“Wait did you see? There’s a door there! In the left-most corner! And light is coming out from it!” Xander pointed.

“Oh yeah, I see it now. Good job.” I patted him.

We walked across the room to reach the door but some noises stopped us.

“Noises again?” I was angry. “We have to hide again. Come.”

I grabbed Xander’s arm and quickly went behind the curtains. We hid again.

But we didn’t hear noises after that. Instead, silence existed for about two long minutes.

“What shall we do now?” Xander asked.

“We’ll have to go out.” I whispered.
