Chapter 16 - Approval

They are scheduled to go home for a bit of break before the start of the new term. Fallon decided to try and make an effort to be closer again to his dad.

They were on an afternoon flight and a driver fetched them when their plane landed at Naga airport.

"Kuya, do you still remember the way to Fallon's house?" Ash asked their driver to which the driver nodded in affirmative.

"Great, let's drop off Fallon first and then we can go home."

While holding Ash hand, Fallon seem restless "Anything wrong?" Ash decided to ask after a while.

"Um, I plan to tell my dad about us. That ok with you?" Fallon tentatively inquired while nervously looking at their joined hands.

Ask dropped his head slightly and turn his face sideways in an effort to peek at Fallon's face. "Baby, look at me."

When Fallon faced Ash, Ash reached out and rubbed the crease away from Fallon's forehead. "Of course its ok. I could not be happier knowing you will tell your dad our relationship. I do plan on telling my parents too."

Fallon smiled happily. Ash's assurance chased away his nervousness.

When they reached Fallon house, his dad is already waiting for him at the open door near the driveway.

"Welcome home anak." He hugged Fallon and nodded at Ash and Archer.

"Tito, we'll go ahead na po. Our parents are expecting us to be home before dinner. Bye Fallon", Ash said while walking backwards, waving with his left hand and gesturing a call sign with his right hand on his mouth and ears while mouthing 'I'll call you later'.

At the dinner table later, Francis and Fallon were talking the way they used to. Lively and enthusiastically. Fallon hates to disrupt the happy mood but he feels that the sooner he tells his dad about Ash, the sooner they can move on from the topic.

"Umm daddy I have something to tell you po." Fallon stated a bit nervously.

"Yes anak?"

"You know Ash Hidalgo, Tito Anthony's son?" Fallon asked.

"Ash? Oh, you mean Alexis, yes of course, I know him. How can I not, he just dropped you off earlier." Francis laughingly said. "He's a fine young man I think, capable and responsible. Why do you ask?" Francis asked Fallon.

"Umm dad, I---I'minarelationshipwithhim." Fallon quickly said.

His dad's face was comically confused as he asked, "What?"

Fallon breathed deeply and said more slowly, "I'm in a relationship with him."

"In a relationship?" Francis asked.

"Relationship as in he is my boyfriend." Fallon clarified

Francis seems surprised but he sighed after a while. "Anak, you don't have to be so nervous telling me these things. I told you, I am with you 100%. As long as you are happy. Well it does not hurt too that you have chosen a praiseworthy man. Of course, I approve." Francis happily said.

"Thank you, dad. I am indeed happy. Ash makes me happy." Fallon smiled.

Last night, Ash called Fallon and asked about his talk with his dad.

"It went better than I imagined. Said he's happy I've chosen 'a praiseworthy man', his words not mine mind you." Fallon laughingly teased Ash.

"Well, I promise to live up to the expectation!" Ash laughed a little as he said this. "But seriously, Fallon baby, I promise I will not let you down." Ash seriously said.

Fallon's heart melted at these words, "Thank you Ash." He quietly said, trying to swallow the slight lump in his throat.

At the dining table the next morning, while they were in the middle of breakfast, Ash suddenly said, "Dad, Mom. I have something to tell you."

Archer looks nervous for his Kuya but he forced himself to look calm and collected as he gives Ash an encouraging smile.

After his parents gave him their attention, "I'm in a relationship po with Fallon Dela Fuente." Ash declared.

Leslie looked at her husband and rubbed his arms to try and calm him down. She then turned to Ash saying, "I'm happy for you son."

"Thank you mom." Ash smilingly told his mom and then turned to his father, "Dad?" Ash asked

His dad stood up and slowly said, "Invite your boyfriend for dinner before you go back to Manila." He then started walking upstairs to his office.

Ash smiled from ear to ear and formed a semi cone with his hand near his mouth, "Thank you, dad. I promise to handle this with as much maturity and seriousness as you and mom expect of me." Ash slightly shouted for his father to hear.

Archer felt like his insides is suddenly devoid of weight. He never realized how much this stressed him until his dad finally approved of his Kuya's relationship. 'Archer, you are such as clingy brother, it's disgraceful.' Archer told himself.

As soon as Anthony reached his office, he closed the door and called Francis.

"So, Fallon and my son huh?" Anthony said on the phone which earned a low laugh from his friend, Francis.

"To tell you the truth, I am happy about this development, but I am not sure if you are." Francis teased his friend.

"Tsk, I've known a long time about Alexis' preference. I do admit that for a while, I am hoping he will settle for a woman. But I've come to realize that my children's happiness is the most important thing for me. I hope they know that. I hope they know that no matter what, I will always support them." Anthony said.

"Thank you pare and also thank you for bringing Alexis into this world. He has brought back my Fallon. The happier and livelier Fallon that I know." Francis said seriously.

"We should all have dinner before they go back to Manila." Anthony said

"Yes, that would be enjoyable."
