Words couldn't be spoken. Thoughts couldn't be formed. What could anyone say in a time like this? Everything that happened within one night, everything that was gained, everything that was lost, it was just horrible.
Nobody said a thing the entire trip back home, not with everything that weighed on everybody's mind. If this one night could be summed up in just one word, it would be a miracle. But miracles don't happen in this reality. That was the hard fact of life.
That was the reality of war.
Coming up to the Balto swamp, with Kyōjurō Rengoku and Captain Olia piloting the ship, everyone remained silent for a bit. Shiro, Lance, Katara, Hunk, Stats, Pidge, and Kosmo.
It took them about an hour to reach Balto swamp where there were many others, including Sokka, Coran and Romelle waiting for their arrival.
The boat arrived at the dock, they all looked around, and saw nothing.
Then they heard a loud noise, which sounded like hospital sirens as a group of medics arrived in just the nick of time as Keith and Kiaion were in need of medical attention.
As they were taking away, nobody was sure who was taking this the hardest, nor could no one dared to forget about what happened before they escaped.
"How could I let this happen?" Shiro asked himself in regret.
"Shiro, it's not your fault." Lance tried to deny.
"It IS my fault. Keith and Kiaion got themselves killed because of me!" Shiro said.
"No it was Zarkon, we had no idea what we were up against!" Hunk argued.
"Hunk's right, there was a reason why the doom lands were called a death sentence!" Pidge said, wiping the tears from her eyes while she was curled up tightly in a ball.
Fearing what sort of doubts and regrets were filling his mind, Stats attempted to relieve his burden as he walked over to him.
"Stats!" Stats said. "Stats?"
"Think, Stats!" Shiro whispered before looking over to Keith, who was on life support.
"Hey, don't worry, Keith and Kiaion, they're going to be fine." Romelle said.
Not far from the forest, Allura sat before a small pond where a waterfall poured into it from a crevice in a rocky wall, looking at her palm.
"I don't understand it, the crystal should be purified by my touch alone, and yet it bears no light of purification...but why?"
She then imagined clutched the Crystal in her palm as she thought back to when Haggar mocked her for being a fake doll.
"That man...why must he be the one to bear my powers?" she thought. "I am real...and I will prove it!!"
"Make a hole!" shouted a paramedic as she, along with many others, were carrying Kiaion and Keith to the emergency rooms. "Prep O.R. 3 and 8!!"
"Right!" said another paramedic as he looked at Kiaion. "I've got multiple skull fractures and cranial swelling."
"He's convulsing! Keep his airway clear." said a surgeon as he witnessed Keith coughing out blood. "He's drowning in his own blood. Hot transit needs care immediately."
"Yes sir!" one of the nurses said as they lifted Keith from the stretcher to the hospital bed for surgery.
"This is bad." said the surgeon as prepping his tools, "He's got a hole all the way through him."
"Careful," said another surgeon. "Pulse is dropping, people!!"
"I'm on it!" said another sturgeon as he was trying to fix up Keith's wounds. "but spinal damage seems likely, whoever tore him up was sharp."
