Viktor P.O.V

Burning hot.

My skin felt like it was on fire, the pain spreading across my back and shoulders. The smell penetrated my nose like a knife, a mixture of burned flesh and blood surrounding my senses.

"Viktor!"

I looked up and saw him. Kenny. He looked different...and scared. His hair wasn't the shaggy, long strands of yellow that I had always compared to light. It was short and dirty. His skin was covered in stitches and scars, like a mutated Frankenstein. And his eyes...weren't his eyes. They weren't the multi-colored eyes that I would stare at for hours. They were muddy brown; a color not suited for Kenny.

"Viktor!" He screamed out, his hands reaching out towards me.

I tried to move, but my body wouldn't listen. I just stood there as flames surrounded my body, burning my flesh. I couldn't speak and I couldn't move. All I could do was stare as Kenny called out for me.

Suddenly, the flames stopped and a bright, white light blew up all around me, blinding me momentarily. I hissed in pain at the sudden light, rubbing my eyes in an attempt to ease my pupils.

"What the..." I felt a wet sensation cover my face as I rubbed my eyes. Warm and thick, it felt familiar. Then...the red hit me.

It was blood. Fresh blood, covering my hands and face like a mask and gloves. I stared in horror as the liquid slid down my face, dripping down towards the ground below. How? Why?

"Vik...tor..."

No...

I didn't want to look.

I didn't want to see.

"Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor."

"Stop." I muttered as I heard Kenny's voice ring in my ears over and over again. He was behind me, I knew he was, but I was a coward. I didn't want to look. I didn't want to believe it was true.

"Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor."

"I said that's enough!"

"Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Vik-"

"Enough!"

I felt an explosion of power as my "arms" tore out of my back. Blood rained down all over me and the horror only grew as I became red. The voice had stopped and quiet had erupted all around me. I quickly looked down, scared of what might happen next. When did I turn into such a coward? The feeling of helplessness was so new to me that I didn't know what to think or what to do. I was just scared.

"Kenny."

Right as I said his name, a gentle hand caressed my cheek with the softest of touches. Soft and small, I knew who this hand belonged to.

"Kenny." I said, happy that he was fine. I quickly looked up, wanting to see his face so badly. "I-"

I woke up screaming, my eyes wide in fear. My heart was thumping so loudly in my chest that I couldn't hear anything else.

Kenny...

Bile started to crawl up my throat and I quickly covered my mouth in fear that I might throw up. The feeling sent shivers through my spine as I remembered Kenny's face in my brain. His face was...

Gagging, I ran out of the tent to the desert just outside. My hands gripped my knees tightly as I dry heaved into the warm sand, wishing I could just throw up and get it over it. But it wouldn't happen. I haven't eaten in days. There was nothing to throw up.
