Chapter 7

Willow

"Ex-excuse me?" I can't stop the words from escaping my mouth. I know you're not supposed to question your masters, they made that very clear during pet training. There's no way I heard him right. Wife? Sure, some masters have relationships with their pets, it's not completely unheard of. But they're high status vampires from what i've gathered. The pet shop owner called Cassius lord and so did the servants. They can't possibly be marrying me.

Cassius raises an eyebrow, looking extremely displeased. "I don't think you are in any position to question me, pet. Don't you agree?"

"S-sorry, of course I agree. I didn't mean to be disrespectful, I just don't think I heard you correctly."

"You heard me correctly, pet. You are going to be our wife."

I look around at all their faces, completely dumbfounded. I pinch my arm, just to make sure i'm not dreaming. But sure enough, I'm still in this room with all of them. What does being their wife even entail? Dont lords needs heirs? I certainly don't want any children, especially with them. I learned in school that it is possible for vampires to have babies with humans, you just have to complete a mate bond. Oh god, am I going to have to complete a mating ritual with all 6 of them?

"I don't understand. Why would you want to marry a pet?"

"We hate those vampire bitches. They're way to entitled and needy." Xander says, a completely serious expression on his face. That's the first time i've seen him not smiling.

Entitled and needy? That's a bit hypocritical of them. From what i've seen, all 6 of them seem extremely entitled.

"It quite simple really," Cassius starts, "we've been demanded to wed by the king. None of us have the patience for a female vampire, so we decided to marry a pet. Which is you. Of course, we will have to wait at least a month until we actually marry. It has to appear somewhat believable to the king."

My throat goes dry. We have to trick the king? There's no way I could pull that off.

"Uh..." I scratch my arm nervously, "We'll be lying to the king?"

"Yes." Gabriel answers, grabbing my hand and stopping its assault on my arm. "Think you can handle that?"

"Truthfully, n-no. I'm an awful liar. Besides, just the sight of the king will make me freeze up. My heart will start racing and my face will turn red. I'm not good under pressure or stressful situations. Not to mention I'm a human and he's a vampire, he'll be able to smell and hear everything i'm feeling. Maybe you should just return me and get someone else for the job. I'll just ruin every-"

"Willow, calm down." Griffin interrupts my nervous rambling, "We'll be there to guide you through it. You are the wife we chose, we will not be returning you."

Gabriel rubs the slight stubble on his jaw, "It really shouldn't be much of a problem. It's natural for a human to be nervous around vampires. If he asks, we'll just say you're shy. One of us will be with you at all times so we'll make sure everything goes smoothly. Just let us take the lead and don't speak to him unless he asks you something directly. He can have suspicions, he can't do anything about them unless you tell him directly that this was a plan. The king will not be happy about us marrying a pet, so he will not hesitate to invalidate the marriage."
