"Ding dong" The school bell rang, which meant that it was lunch recess. Aila, an eighth grader was immediately bombarded with her friends, telling her to sit with them. She broke off into a sprint as she dashed into the library, the one place where nobody thought a popular teen like her would go. She dived deeper and deeper into her usual place of relaxation and started to pick out a book she would like to read. Suddenly a hand shot out of nowhere and grasped her shoulder. "Boo!" As a familiar voice whispered, Panic quickly turned to relief, "Alvin! You scared the crap out of me, still not clear on how you sneak up on me though." Alvin, a seventh-grade boy, was chuckling as he said "Quite easily if I do say so myself." Alvin looked at Aila and said " I recommend reading this book. He handed her a book called The Legend of Demetrescu. He knew all of Aila's interests by heart and knew that she adored vampire novels. He got himself a book and sat down on the sofa where they usually sat. As they sat down, Aila spotted a bunch of her so-called "friends" in the library, "Hide me!" She whispered. Alvin motioned her to a deeper section as the girls strolled by him. "Hey nerd, have you seen a girl with blonde hair anywhere? Slender body, pale blue eyes, about yay high?" The girl in the middle asked with the most Karen voice Alvin ever heard. "No," Alvin said coolly. The girls eyed Alvin, doubtful as they strolled out. "Phew, that was a close one." Alvin sighed as Aila emerged for the deeper section " I still can't understand why they call you nerd though. You have the glasses, yes. But without them, you possess none of the nerdy characteristics. Besides reading a lot." "Thanks for the compliment, I guess?" Alvin sighed. The two continued reading until the bell rang. They got up, said goodbye to each other, and went to their respective classes. Aila sighed as she listened to the teacher drone on and on about biology, it was so boring. She has known this since fifth grade. She was a genius in her grade and pretty too. So everybody wanted to be her friend. But nobody wanted to be her friend when she was a primary, with oh so many pimples.....except for Alvin. As the teacher droned on and on about biology and chemistry and so on. She pictured her crushing her least favorite teacher Mr. Mok again and again, he hated Aila for always defining him and set out on a mission to make her life hell. " Aila? Aila? EARTH TO AILA NOLAN!!!" Aila snapped back to reality as Mr. Mok stared down at her. "Tell me, Aila." Mr. Mok asked in an awfully sweet tone. "How do you correctly dissect a frog?." Aila scoffed in a bored and annoyed tone" First, place the frog in the dissecting pan ventral side up. Then use scissors to lift the abdominal muscles away from the body cavity. Cut along the midline of the body to the forelimbs, and make transverse (horizontal) cuts near the arms and legs. Finally, lift the flaps of the body wall and pin back. Is that correct, teacher?" "That was .....overly exaggerated." Mr. Mok smirked. "An F for you. Now today's homework is a five-page essay on how to dissect a frog, because of a certain someone did not answer it correctly. Do I make myself clear?" "Yes, Mr.Mok" The class echoed in their usual miserable and robotic voice. Mr Mok looked at Alia and asked "Do I make myself clear?" A snarky grin ran across his face. Aila resisted the urge to ram her fist right into his smug fat face. She took a deep breath and said" Yes." "Yes SIR." corrected Mr. Mok "That's Mrs to you!" Aila said angrily. "Detention!" said Mr Mok triumphantly. "Meet me on the 5th floor of the hall at 4 pm. Do I make myself clear?""Yes""Yes SIR!"Aila bit back an insult," Yes... Sir." She forced out. After her final class had ended, Aila went out of the classroom and was not surprised to see Alvin waiting for her outside. "Finally!" He exclaimed, "I've been waiting for like...half an hour. Are we leaving?" "Unfortunately...no, I got detention with him again. " Ahhhhh... It's the Fat And The Furious, back at it again." Alvin jokes "But listen, you can't trigger him again, you're on the verge of being expelled! It's almost the end of term, you can't screw up again." "Yeah, I know" Alia sighed "You can leave now, it's ok, I won't die from boredom staying with Mr Mok." "Ok, see you tomorrow," Alvin said cooly as he walked away. Alia climbed up to the 5th floor to the hall and saw Mr Mok waiting for her. He motioned her in and closed the door behind him. "Why are you locking the door?" Aila asked suspiciously." Nolan Nolan Nolan." Mr Mok sighed " You've been causing too much trouble, endangering my career. You know the Empire of Gaea is growing and I can't have a demigod ruining our plans, I finally found the perfect time to capture you, with no mortals around. I can finally end you...." Aila didn't know what was happening but chose to agree on anything he rambled about. Mr. Blofis went on red from rambling, but it didn't stop there, he continued to be redder and redder until he was scarlet, his fat puffy face elongated as horns... wait horns? Aila thought she was going crazy when his shoes were poked through by talons, literal spikes poked through his back, and out came a scarlet tail from his behind. " You're an Ifrit." Aila gasped, although she did not know where she knew it from. " A fire demon! " " Yes. " Mr. Mok... or an Ifrit, anyways...." he leered at Aila. "For the longest time, Gaea has been in Tartarus, biding her time. But when she finally awakes, her first sacrifice will be you!!!" Aila was frozen in shock and terror as she saw the pen he was holding extend into a sword that looked like it was made from pure fire. He pounced toward Aila with incredible speed pinned Aila down to the floor and raised his sword. Aila tried to fight back but the grip was too strong. She stared a triumphant Mr Mok in the eyes. She decided if she was going to die, she wasn't going to beg for mercy or cower in fear. She was going to stare him down.
