"I'm dead, I'm so... SO dead."Aila clutched her sweaty palms as it dawned on her. She didn't have a weapon or armor to fight with yet. What was she going to do? Punch the Ares cabin. At dinner, she frantically looked for Alvin in the sea of people. She was so afraid that she couldn't even admire the great outdoors, or the giant campfire, which seemed to show the emotions of campers. And finally saw him dining alone in a corner. She swiftly grabbed a seat scooched next to him and whispered. "ALVIN." "Mm?" He raised an eyebrow. " I don't have weapons or amour or even the ability to fight. I'm screwed dude I am so screwed..." Alvin calmly chewed his food as Aila rambled on, he swallowed his food, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said "I got you covered." "What?" "You haven't got a weapon yet right?" "Yeah." "Well too bad, I guess the Ares cabin will just shish kabob you and impale your head on a long pole. Nice knowing you... I'm joking, here... follow me." Alvin led Aila outside the dining hall and walked on a rugged path, they walked around the hall to the other side. "Why can't we just walk through the grass?" Aila asked. "Satyr enchantments, the weed is supposed to trap an intruder by coiling up its legs." " And they stay coiled?" "Well, yes. Until the head counselor decides whether or not they get to be freed." "If the head counselor says no." "The intruder gets slowly strangled to death." Alvin said casually, "Not a pretty sight. Ah, we're here." Aila broke eye contact with Alvin and saw their promised path that led to thousands of weapons was instead replaced by a shabby-looking shed. "Alvin, I don't think the other cabins would appreciate being ..... bonked by a shovel..... stabbed by a pitchfork .... uh..... run over by a lawnmower. Maybe it'll be better if I just go empty-handed. Better having a slow and painful death rather than being beaten to oblivion." "This is not a normal tool shed." Alvin smirked, " Behold!" Alvin swung open the door and a beam of blinding light poured out of it. Aila squinted her eyes and saw thousands upon thousands of weapons of all kinds stretched along the long shed. Celestial bronze, Imperial gold, arrows, spears, and swords. Aila even though she saw a double-ended scythe as she followed Alvin into the room. "Zeus Christ," Alvin said as he clapped his hands once, and as though a lightbulb, the light source went out. "Much better. Now Aila, CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON!" He said in a dramatic street fighter voice. "Why are there so many weapons? Shouldn't they be in a museum or something?" "Well. The gods have created weapons for us to use, not to be hanged on a pretty wall." Aila browsed around and tried everything, there was a bow that shot every arrow you could imagine, and there was a sword that burned and cauterized the wound as soon as it was touched. There was even a spear with a dragon tooth on it, which could summon a giant skeleton made from chaos and sweep everything in its path. But nothing seemed to work. With Alvin leaning against the entrance door sometimes making suggestions. Aila was so frustrated, the game was starting in half an hour, and she didn't even have a weapon to fight, nonetheless to train. She was just thinking about grabbing a random weapon when she heard it again, the same faint cry she heard beside the lake, except it was louder, clearer. She looked around and walked towards it, with every step, the cry grew louder, she swept away weapon after weapon with her hands and wandered deeper and deeper into the shed. Finally, she arrived in the dustiest part of the shed, with the fewest weapons. She looked around and sensed that she was close to it... whatever it was. She took another look around and found a safe tucked neatly in the corner, its colors faded, and its walls were etched with dried blood so old that it looked almost completely black. Aila's hands etched towards the safe, but before she could touch it, *click. It opened itself, and sitting in the middle of it was a disappointing orb. Man, Aila though, grabbed the orb and examined it. Just then, Alvin came blasting through, "Aila! Oh, nice you have your weapon.""This isn't my..."" No time to explain, come on, it's almost time, oh Chiron's going to kill us if we're late.""Alvin...." Aila did not have time to finish her sentence as with a surprisingly strong grip, she was dragged off by Alvin. As in the distance, horns began to sound.
