~Faith~
"Spicy pecan soup." The words rang in my ears. I tried to pretend that the cashier had said anything other than "pecan", but I knew the harsh reality.
"Thank you," I gulped. I to the mall escalator and racked my memory for what the doctor always told me to do for my allergy. Within five minutes of eating pecans, your throat will swell up and inhibit your breating. I could already feel my breaths getting shallower, and I took deep, slow breaths to calm myself down. Five minutes. Five minutes to find Ada and get her to take me to the hospital.
I ran through the mall, screaming Ada's name in all the stores. I realized that I only had about three minutes left. I tried Ada's mobile phone, but no answer. So I called the only person I thought to.
~Niall~
I was at home, after a good jam session with Zayn. I plopped down on the couch and grabbed the TV remote when my phone started ringing. I looked at the caller ID and saw that is was Faith.
"Hey babe," I said casually.
"Niall, I'm at the mall. I need you to come right now."
"Everything okay, love?"
"Actually, no." I noticed her voice sounded a little choked, a little forced, as if she was having trouble breathing. "I, um, I don't have enough time to explain now. Just come to the Clearlake Mall, I'll be in the girl's bathroom on the second floor. Come as quickly as you can." I jump up from the couch.
"I'll be right there," I said, but then the line went dead. I realized that this was a real emergency. I grabbed my car keys as I ran out the door. No time to lose.
I pressed my foot to the pedal, hard. If I got a speeding ticket, so be it. Faith was my one priority right now. My heart pounded faster than ever before, my mind filling with questions: What happened? Is Faith all right? How much time do I have? I sped faster than ever before, and I could see the mall on the horizon. Good.
As I pulled into the mall parking lot, I slipped on a pair of shades. Didn't need anyone recognizing me! I pulled into a parking space and turned off the car, then literally bolted out the door. I raced to the mall entrance, dodging people from all sides. I saw the escalator and ran to it, taking hulk steps to try to run up the escalator. I spotted the woman's bathroom out of the corner of my eye and took off like a bullet. I ran to the doorway and looked in. No ladies. Good. Just one girl.
The blonde girl was slumped in the corner by the sink, her head resting on her chest, her hair almost completely covering her face. I came closer and heard her ragged breaths. I pushed her hair away from her face and saw that it was Faith. She was unconsious, but thankfully still breathing. I was running out of time. I scooped up her body in my arms and ran out the door of the bathroom, ignoring the stares from people. I ran down the escalator and out of the mall entrance. I saw my car and ran to it. Now my run was more like a jog. I whipped open the front seat and jumped in, put Faith in the passenger seat, and stepped on the gas. No seat belt. No time for that.
I pulled into the hospital parking lot. I scooped up Faith again and ran faster than I ever had in my entire life. Faith will die if I don't get her to the emergency room on time, I thought. I ran, the blood pounding in my head. When I got to the hospital doors, I ran inside and made a beeline for the front desk.
"Passed...out...needs help...please," I panted, out of breath.
"I'm sorry, sir, but you may have to wait. I'm working with someone else at the moment," said the nurse, gesturing to the people in front of the desk. Oops.
"Please," I begged, tears spilling down my cheeks. "Please help her." I broke down crying. In a few seconds some doctors came out with a stretcher and took her away from me. I ran to the waiting room to sob.
