Chapter 19

~Niall~

"I told them we'd be there by two, it's six minutes after! Hurry up!" I whined. Louis rolled his blue eyes.

"Do you want to get into an accident, Niall?"

"No, but-"

"Would you like to pay a speeding ticket?"

"No, but-"

"Exactly." Louis stared straight ahead.

"I just don't want to dissapoing Erin and Caitlin," I said nervously. Faith, who was sitting next to me, rubbed my leg.

"Don't worry about it, Niall," she said softly. "It will all be okay."

"We're here," Louis announced, pulling into the hospital's parking lot and parking the car. As we walked out, I muttered to the other boys,

"I will get you for this!"

We cautiously approached the hospital door.

"Should I go in?" Liam whispered. I nodded and he pushed it open gently.

"Niall?" I heard Caitlin say.

"It's all of us this time, sweetie," I said. Caitling squealed with delight and sat up in bed, clapping her hands. There was a gigantic smile on her face. She looked like she was going to burst with happiness. But something was different.

Caitlin still had her loose, blonde curls and her stunning blue eyes and the freckles that were splashed across her nose. But she had changed. She was no longer the energetic, lively girl I had met in the hospital waiting room. She had bags under her eyes and her skin was paler than before. She was thinner. I could see her bones. She was weaker, too. My eyes filled with tears and I told myself, don't cry, stay strong for Caitlin.

"We only have time for three songs," Louis explained to Erin. "That's all the time the hospital will allow."

"What song would you like to hear first, sweetie?" Asked Harry, leaning toward Caitlin. She scrunched up her nose in thought. Then she smiled.

"What Makes You Beautiful," she said with a huge grin.

"You're insecure, don't know what for, you're turning heads when you walked through the do-o-or," sang Liam. Caitlin couldn't stop smiling, and she was singing along. I'd never seen anyone so happy.

"Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you-u, baby you light up my world like nobody else, the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, but when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell, you don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful! If only you saw what I can see, you'd understand why I want you so desperately, right now I'm looking at you and I can't believe you don't know-oh-oh, you don't know you're beautiful, oh oh, and that's what makes you beautiful!"

"So c-come on, you've got it wrong, to prove I'm right I put it in a so-o-ong. I don't know why you're being shy, and turn away when I look into your eye-eye-eyes," sang Zayn,

"Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you-u..." Now we were all singing. All of One Direction were singing, of course, and so was Caitlin, Faith, Erin, Caitlin's dad, and a few of the nurses. It was pure joy in the room. I felt tears come to my eyes, but for the first time, they weren't tears of sadness. They were tears of joy.

"Na na na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na," we sang and clapped along. "Na na na na na na na na na na, na na na na na na..."

"Baby you light up my world like nobody else, the way that you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed," now Harry was singing directly to Caitlin. He took her hand and stared into her eyes and I saw a connection between them. "But when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell...Caitlin, sing it!"
