This town is not that big. It's enough not to be found by your kidnapper and in most of the maps, this town doesn't exist. We were basically in the middle of nowhere. It had a mall, coffee shops where people meet up and gossip about the people who passed by the town, and small shops for your daily stuff. Jewel accompanied me everywhere and telling me about who is who.
As I was walking away to check some books, Jewel grabbed hold of my arm and she saw my scars of when I got kidnapped.
Jewel, wide eyed, was speechless. For the first time since I met her.
"Umm.. it's nothing, Jewel. Please leave it be." I pleaded.
"No. You're telling me now. How did this happen?" She's determined. I tried to cover up as much as I could but she's begging me to tell her.
"Jewel, I'm not ready to tell you yet. Please understand." I kept pleading until she finally let go of my shirt.
"Okay, I'm sorry, Alan-.." I started running. Tears were streaming down my face when I left Jewel alone at the mall. I couldn't take it. I ran home.
I felt someone following me in a car. The windows were tinted. It found me.. omg.. what do I do? the sun was setting. I sprinted like a cheetah out of there to the police station. Shit. That was close. I didn't see the car anywhere.
My mom was already waiting with who I think is Detective Matthew.
"Alana, darling, why are you sweating? I thought that girl Jewel will take you here." she asked when she saw me walk in the station.
"uhh. She had something important with her family so she had to leave early and I walked here" I laughed awkwardly.
"*coughs* Hello, I'm Detective Matthew. We met when you were in the hospital recovering and well... healing. Is it possible to get your statement about what happened?" this wasn't something I was ready for. I have experienced horrible things in there. They were inhumane. The thought of it just made me watery and chills all over my body.
He knows where you are. My conscious was fighting with me whether I should tell them or not. Maybe it was someone else's car. Who knows, Alana? Obviously not you. It'll get you sooner or later.
Detective Matthew got me out of the haze of my mind.
"Miss, are you alright? You seem pale." Shit.
"No no. I'm all good." Liar. You wanna break down and cry your eyes out.
"Well then shall we begin?" Do I?
"Yeah. Ask away." I smiled politely.
"What were you doing before you got kidnapped?" You were at his house. Having fun without mommy knowing.
"I was walking home from school taking the long route to visit my friend, Lina. On my way there I notice a black van that has been following me for the past quarter mile. I start to walk faster to see if goes my pace and it does. At this point I start to run. Lina's house wasn't close to where I was. A mile at least. Then, the van went infront of me, stopped and 2 people came out. They had masks. I screamed and screamed but no one came to help me. Maybe people has sound proof-ed their homes and can't hear me but nothing.. I was screaming my lungs out till I felt a sting on my neck and I blacked out."
Detective Matthew was writing everything down like he was a robot. Damn man. After he finished what he was writing, he looked up back at me like a hawk. Reading my face for anything.
"Alana? Are you alright?" Detective Matthew asked. I just nodded.
"Can you continue what happened next?" now for the gruesome part.
"I woke up tied to chair, my arms and legs restrained by leather cuffs. It was dark and cold. Like dry ice on my skin. the atmosphere was dead. I smelled the stench of corpses in there. It's done this before so I'm just quiet, speechless about what happened to me. Then I heard footsteps coming behind me. Heavy feet or heavy shoes and it was getting closer. I heard a cynical laugh from behind me as the kidnapper calmly place it's hand on my shoulder. The kidnapper's voice was tuned when I heard it tell me that it wasn't gonna let me go till it got what it wanted which was to beg to just kill me." At this point, I was on the verge of crying but I continued anyway.
"I felt the cold sting of the scalpel going into my arms at an agonizing pace. It wanted me to suffer. It stopped for a while when it cut through my whole forearm." At this point, my mom was sobbing. This is the first time she heard it too. I'm sorry mom.
"I kept blacking out afterwards. I kept losing too much blood to even feel the pain anymore. And that's when you come in, detective. " I looked at Detective Matthew and he just was shocked at everything I said.
"Mom, are you okay?" She was crying like a waterfall. I just held her till she calmed down a bit to take us home.
This was a tiring day.
"Mom, we're home. Do you need help going to your room? I don't mind carrying you." I felt like someone was watching me. It made the back of my neck hair to stand. Could be him. Or not. I spit back at my consciousness. I locked the door behind me and basically dragged mom to her bed.
After leaving my mom at her room, I went to my bedroom, laid on my bed and reviewed the things that happened today. It started so good with meeting a certain someone, and I got a new friend, Jewel.
Dammit, I forgot to ask for her number. She must be worried that I just left like that. Great job in getting a new friend and losing her on the same day says my conscious while she glares at me. oh shh. it's been a tiring day. Covering my face, I fall into a deep sleep.
