Leila and Eli walk between Jasmine and Lydia, as they lead the way to the nematon. The group was pretty much quiet, until Eli so graciously decided to ask his burning questions.
"So you two are the screamers, right?" Eli asks the two women on either side of him. "Banshee's, Eli. Banshee's" Leila reminds him, with a sigh. "Yeah, but banshee's scream, right?" He asks her. "You said they scream" he deadpans, after his best friend rolls her eyes.
"Well, actually they wail, if you want to be technical" Lydia speaks up. "So how loud can you scream?" Eli persists. "Loud enough to create a burst of acoustic energy that could crush your skull," Jasmine says, looking over at the boy who grimaces.
"Good to know,"
"There it is." Malia says, bringing the group to a halt, as she steps in front of everyone. Leila stands still, as she stares at the tree stump, she finds herself remembering her dream....
The brunette girl approached the tree stump. Placing her hand softly along the rough top. Something had happened here, something so sacred. Something that brought power back to this once powerless spot in the woods of the Beacon Hills Preserve.
To the side of the stump, sat a young brunette boy, sobbing. In his arms, laid a brunette girl with long hair. Their faces clear as day. His white and black plaid shirt stained with mud, but the boy didn't care at all.
All he seemed to care about was the girl in his arms. The one that had died a few moments ago.
There was a group of people around them, seeming to be sad as they watched the scene in front of them. A couple stood off to the side, Theo and Jasmine Raeken, while the man tried to console his screaming, sobbing wife, while having tears in his eyes himself. All of their faces tear stained. Something about the situation felt so familiar.
Leila felt like she was going to be sick.
Leila is brought out of her thoughts by a hand softly placing itself on her shoulder. "Honey?" Jasmine asks, looking at her daughter with a look of concern. That seemed to be the look on everyone's face that could hear her heartbeat.
"Are you okay?" Eli asks his best friend. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. We have to get you to the game" Leila reminds him, and he groans. "For what? I never get to play anyway"
"Who knows, Coach might put you in tonight"
Eli rolls his eyes. "Yeah right"
✨✨✨
"What?" Leila asks Eli, as he's looking at her while they walk out of the woods together. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Leila persists, and Eli's eyes soften. "Leila, your heart is going 75 million miles a minute" he tells her.
"Just like back there. By the way, what was that?" Eli questions. Leila shrugs. "I don't know"
"You're lying."
"No I'm-"
"I can hear your heart beat" he cuts her off. She sighs, and puts her head down. "I keep having this dream. And when we were at the nematon, the dream came back to me" she admits, and he listens, like he always did.
"What's was the dream?" He asks, the two walking in step with one another, as they exit the woods. "A group of people, around that stupid tree stump. There's these two people, every time, the girl dies in his arms" Leila explains, and then takes in Eli's appearance.
There's no way she can tell him what she saw.

"Dad, put me down!" Eli pleads, as Derek Carrie's him through the locker room. Leila trails behind them, even though it's the boys locker room, she didn't care. Eli was hurt, and she wasn't leaving his side. Though, she did find it amusing that Derek was carrying him.
"Please put me down" Eli pleads, and Leila cracks a smile, trying not to laugh. "You said you couldn't walk" Derek defends. "I can hop," Eli protests, and Derek finally puts him down.
His arm is thrown around Leila's shoulder as he hops, to keep his balance. "You're not exactly light, E" Leila grunts, as he plopped onto the bench. "You almost had that shot," Derek comments, and Eli scoffs.
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did. I saw it. You were right at the goal!" Leila adds, plopping down next to him. "You're better than you think you are" Leila assures him, and he makes eye contact with her. "I was in for less than a minute. I got the ball for a second and I got knocked on my ass and twisted my ankle" Eli rants, then shakes his head, breaking eye contact.
"It wasn't anything" he concludes. "It was something," Derek comments. "I was watching Coach and he saw it too. You're good. You're really good. And...if you can heal, you can play tomorrow night, and you can help them win" Derek says, sitting on the other side of Eli.
"The first step to transforming is healing, but you've gotta be willing to learn"
Eli looks over at Leila, and all he could think about was the look on her face during the full moon. He was terrified of hurting her. And the more Derek watched them, the more he realized. It wasn't that Eli was ignoring this part of his life, he was hesitant to embrace it.
Eli grunts in pain, as he tries to move his ankle. Leila placed a supportive hand on his shoulder blade, and he sends her a tight lipped smile.
Derek's head turns toward the door of the locker room when he hears a noise. "Get down!" Derek yells, pushing the two teenagers out of the way as an arrow flies into the lockers right behind their heads.
"Run! Go!" Derek yells. Leila throws Eli's arm around her shoulder and the two get up, making their way to an exit as fast as they can, while Derek fought off the mysterious villain that had attacked them.

message from the author 💕
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter! But I have a question.....
After I finish the events of the movie, should I try and continue the book and give Eli and Leila their own story? Or should I make an epilogue, with a time jump to see where the characters are in the future and just end it there?
Let me know!
