Leila felt numb. She felt like her heart shattered into a million little pieces. She felt empty. Malia tried to console girl, although she wasn't any good at it. But Malia was very strict on Leila not leaving her side. If she let anything happen to the teenager, Jasmine would have her head on a stick.

Malia didn't fear a lot of people, but Jasmine Raeken? She feared her. So she'd do anything to keep her daughter safe.

"Maybe Lydia can give us some insight on this. There weren't any bodies, so they can't be dead, right?" Malia ranted to the young Raeken girl, as she drove toward the Sheriffs station. "Taken? Maybe. I don't know," Malia let out a frustrated sigh.

"All I know is my best friend-"

"Stop lying to yourself." Malia cuts her off, and Leila looks at her confused. "You love him. He loves you. He's more than just your best friend" Malia states, bluntly. Leila, taking in what the older woman said, looks out the window. Malia wasn't far off.

Leila does love Eli, she just doesn't know that he loves her back.

"Guys. Guys. Hi" Malia says, as she and Leila run into the Sheriffs station. They're met with the faces of Lydia Martin and Jackson Whittmore. Leila didn't really know Jackson. She'd only heard of him, and most of the stories were all bad. He and her mom dated in high school, apparently. And he was a giant douchebag, according to Jasmine, anyway.

"We got a big ass problem. Derek, Stilinski, Jasmine, Eli, Deaton, they're all gone" Malia lists off, nervousness laced in her voice. "What do you mean gone?" Lydia questions, her tone becoming concerned.

"They were taken" Leila says, her voice cracking. "By who?" Jackson asks.

"The Oni." Their head whip toward the sound of Jordan Parrish's voice, as he walks into the room.

Now in the woods, Malia, Leila, Jackson, and Parrish stand behind Lydia, who's rambling on about the forest fires that keep happening. Leila honestly didn't know what Lydia was talking about, they way she was talking was confusing her. So she drowned it out. Too worried about the people she cares about to even pay attention.

"Is she gonna keep talking like this?" Leila asks Jackson. "I stopped listening six hours ago" says Jackson, not even sparking the young girl a second glance. Leila rolls her eyes. Jackson Whittmore really is a douchebag.

"Alright, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna spend of the day walking through the woods, trying to catch a pyromaniac" Malia expresses. "Do you have a better plan?" Lydia questions, as Malia goes to walk away with Parrish.

"We already know what kills the Oni" Parrish speaks up. "Silver." Malia confirms. "You with me?" Malia asks the man, who nods. "No," Leila admits. "Im not interested in being taken tonight. No way" Leila protests. Malia looked reluctant to leave, making eye contact with Lydia, who sends her a nod.

"She'll be fine with us," Lydia assures her. "Go. Get all the silver you can. And if you see the Oni, don't fight them. Kill them"

"Jackson, what do you smell?" Lydia asks the Kanima. Leila still found it interesting how Jackson had a tail, yet transformed like a werewolf. She'd never completely understand the supernatural world.

"It's not gas. It's not lighter fluid or anything like that. It's different" Jackson reveals, looking around himself. Leila places her hand on one of the burnt trees. "Chemical accelerant." She says, catching the attention of the two adults.

"It's a quick burn, so they can't set the rest of the forest on fire" Leila elaborates, and Lydia nods. Impressed by the Raeken girls knowledge. "Well, does that tell us anything useful?" Jackson asks, his signature douchey tone in his voice, warning an eye roll from the teenager.

"Well, in terms of fire, they know chemicals. They know how to use them" Lydia further explains, lightly touching one of the burnt tree trunks.

"I don't get it. Why would someone spend all this time and energy, burning up Rowan trees?" Jackson questions, and it all finally clicks for Leila, and Lydia. The fires, all of them were connected. And they all connected with whatever is going on around them right now.

"Rowan trees," Leila mutters, and Jackson looks over at her. "Yeah, that's what the smell is, right?"

"Jackson, do you know what Rowan trees become after they're burned?" Lydia asks, standing up straight. "Ash?" Jackson says, but it's more of a question. Leila let's out a deep breath.

"Mountain Ash."

✨✨✨

Leila trails behind Jackson and Lydia as they walk through the cement hallways of the college lacrosse field. Where the playoff game was behind held, the game Eli was supposed to play in. The game Leila was supposed to be in the stands cheering him on in.

But Eli was still missing, and Leila wasn't completely sure if he was still alive. And that hurt her heart, a lot.

Leila watches as Lydia bends down and her hand hovers over a barrier, made with sparkling black powder. Mountain Ash. Leila had heard stories, from her parents. Though mountain ash didn't effect either of them, it effected their friends. The nogitsune's plan was already in motion. And they just fell into a trap.

"It's happening now. The mountain ash is more than a barrier. It's a gateway between his world and ours" Lydia says, and Jackson scoffs. "Oh, I really hate when you say shit like that"

"Parrish has to break the barrier. He's the only one that can do it" Lydia says, standing up, confusing Leila. "But mountain ash doesn't effect-"

A bullet soaring through the air and hitting Jackson in the leg, cut Leila off. She and Lydia let out gasps. "Jackson?!" Lydia shrieks.

"Leila-" Jackson grunts. "Run."

✨✨✨

After running for what felt like an eternity, Leila found herself outside, next to the bleachers leading to the lacrosse field. Whipping around, looking to see if she can spot any familiar faces. Not that they'd be here, they were all taken.

"Leila?"

The Raeken girl whips around at the sound of the familiar voice. "Dad?"

Theo wraps his daughter in a bone crushing hug. The man having been scared she was missing, like his wife. But that's not the case at all, and he's thankful for it. But their reunion is cut short by two sets of approaching footsteps.

"Leila?!"

"Eli?!"
