Kind of a sappy chapter but I changed a lot between the original story and this one with this chapter and I like this one much better. I think you all will like it better too. Also I'm tired.

(3rd P.O.V.)

Lyrica and Isaac sit on the small couch in front of the sheriff's desk while the sheriff himself sits behind the desk.

"Let's start from the beginning, Isaac." The sheriff gently instructs, and Isaac takes a shaky breath, his heart racing.

"It's okay, Honey." Lyrica coos, reaching out and gently rubbing his back. "You're safe here. Take your time."

"It all started when my mom died a few years ago..."

---------------------------------------------

Several heartbreaking hours later, Isaac has given the sheriff more than enough evidence to arrest his father and immediately remove Isaac from his care.

"Isaac, do you have any other family members you can stay with?" Sheriff Stilinski asks, typing up his warrant request on his computer. (Idk how warrants actually work so we finna make shit up.)

"N-No. My parents were both only children and my grandparents died when I was a kid." The teen explains and Lyrica hears his heart racing along with the scent of fear seeping from him.

"Is there anything we can do to keep from contacting children's services?" Lyrica questions, having felt the terror of foster care herself as a kid.

"Unfortunately we have to contact them no matter what." The sheriff sighs, clasping his hands together. "Isaac, if there's anyone you can think of that you'd trust, we can place you in what's called Protective Custody. If there's anyone you can think of, you could be legally under their guardianship for 72 hours excluding weekends and the time could be extended as the case progresses."

"I can't think of anyone." Isaac says, and Lyrica hears his heart skip, indicating his lie.

"What if I did it?" She blurts out, both males looking at her. "I mean, my husband and I have the room and the funds, easily, and I'm his teacher so there's reliable school transportation."

"What do you think, Isaac?" Stilinski asks, and both adults watch as the teen's eyes fill with tears once more, only this time, there's a smile to go with them.

"I'd like that. I'd really like that." He nods and both adults smile as well.

"Mrs. Hale, how about you go get your husband? We can bring him in and explain the situation."

"Of course." Lyrica rises, reluctantly letting go of Isaac's hand that she had been holding for well over an hour. "I'll be right back, Isaac."

The teen nods and Lyrica exits the office, finding her husband right where he said he'd be, sitting outside the office. He stands when he sees her, pulling her into his arms the second she's close enough.

"You listen to it all?" She asks with a sigh, feeling drained from the eventful day.

"Of course. Are you sure about taking him in?" He replies.

"More than anything. He's in the same position I was all those years ago. I was all alone with Hunter. If we can do anything to keep him from suffering like I did, we have to do it."

"Then let's go." Derek links their hands and they walk back to the office, Lyrica entering with her husband right behind her.

At the sight of the darkly dressed man, Isaac shrinks back, intimidated. Both Lyrica and Derek hear as his heart races, and Lyrica takes a deep breath. She moves to speak but before she can, there's a light squeeze on her hand before it's released, Derek slowly walking over and crouching in front of where the teen sits.
