This chapter is hella eventful! Now, if anyone is here from the original version of this story, you may remember what is about to happen. As much as I want to take the same route as before, things are going to be different this time around. And Erica is kind of a badass. That's all the help/teaser y'all get lol. Have funnnn!
(3rd P.O.V.)
After a weekend full of training and ice cream rewards, the betas and Lyrica return to school. The day flies by rather uneventfully and before anyone knows it, the entire pack is meeting up at the school once more for the lacrosse game.
"We'll go find seats on the bleachers." Lyrica gestures to herself and the two newest betas.
"I'll find you after I take Isaac to the locker room." Derek nods.
They part ways, and Lyrica's guard flies up when she notices Gerard Argent seated next to Allison in the bleachers. Somehow, the werewolf had managed to avoid the hunter since he became principal, but as he looked up and met her eyes, she knew her luck had run out. She forces herself to give him a tense smile before turning and digging in her purse, pretending to look for something.
"Erica, Boyd, don't react. Stay normal. Sit as far away from Allison as possible. I'll sit between you. You can't be seen with me any more than you already have." She quickly mutters, hoping the betas had heard her.
She nearly cries tears of joy when the two teens calmly stroll past her, talking amongst themselves as they venture for the upper left corner of the bleachers. Allison and Gerard sit only a few rows up on the far right side, so they're as safe as they can be. Lyrica pulls out a pair of gloves and slips them onto her hands despite not being cold, and moves to take a seat in the middle of the bleachers.
"Mrs. Hale!"
Her blood runs cold when her name is called just before she can begin climbing the metal steps. Composing herself and mentally telling herself to keep calm, she turns and gives her boss a friendly smile.
"Hello, Principal Argent. Allison." She greets the hunters before giving her attention to the elder. "I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it's wonderful to see you here. I don't think I've seen you at one of the games yet this year."
"I know, I've had a very busy schedule since taking up my position here at the school." He smiles, but it's more sinister than kind, and the young teacher has to fight back her shiver of discomfort. "Say, your son's on the team, right? Isaac?"
"That's him."
"How about you join us? You can help Allison explain the game to me."
"Oh, I appreciate the offer, but-"
"Please, I insist." He pats the open space next to him and, seeing no escape, Lyrica wearily takes the offer.
The trio sits in silence, watching as the players run around on the field. One specific member on the opposing team keeps tackling Beacon Hills players, sending them off the field on stretchers.
"Good God, is it always this violent?" Gerard exclaims.
"Not typically." Lyrica winces, watching Isaac dart around the field and expertly avoid being tackled by the massive player.
"Oh, I know I should have brought a warmer jacket." Allison suddenly says, and both adults turn to her.
"You're cold! Here, take my coat." Gerard immediately offers, standing to pull the layer off.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course!" The grandfather helps her put the coat on before they retake their seats.
