You know emotional support friends? You either have one or you are one. Sunoo was Sunghoon's emotional support, when the older had a problem, Sunoo was always the first one to help him solve it. But what will happen if he can't hold the burden anymore?
" Sunoo! My mother just chased me out of the house... Can I stay over at your house just for the night? " Sunghoon came running to Sunoo with dried tears staining his cheeks. " Uh...." Sunoo thought about it for a moment. " Please... I don't want to sleep on the streets tonight. " Sunghoon pleaded. " sigh, only today. You're lucky my mom won't be home tonight. " Sunoo smiled at the older.
" Thanks, you're the best Sunoo! " And Sunghoon ran off to find his boyfriend Jake. Didn't he break up with Jake 2 times already? Now they're back together? He never does learn does he... Sunoo thought, but shook it off. He had no experience in dating so he did not want to interfere with others dating life.
" Hey Sunoo! Are we still hanging out later to try the new cafè? I read the reviews and they said their cheesecake is amazing! " Sunoo's friend, Jungwon came from behind. " Yep! And remember, don't you DARE invite you boyfriend. The last time you did that, I almost vomited from all the disgusting lovey stuff you guys did. " Sunoo said, fake gagging at the end.
" So, how's you're love life? Found anyone you're interested in? " Jungwon asked, taking a bite of his cheesecake. " Well... I have someone I like but he has a boyfriend, it's probably one of those small crushes. Nothing big... At least I hope..." Sunoo whispered the last part.
" You're just afraid to admit it, love is a natural thing Sunoo. Humans feel love, and it's completely fine. I believe you can do it! " Jungwon took his best friend's hand and caressed it. "Thanks I guess... " Sunoo said.
He had a crush on Sunghoon for 2 years now, no matter how much he tries to push the feelings away, he couldn't. He was frustrated that Sunghoon always gave him hope by breaking up with Jake but destroys it 2 days after by getting back together.
" Sunghoon? Are you here? " Sunoo yelled in the what seem to be an empty house. " Yea, I'm in your room! Mind if you get me some water while you're coming? Thanks! " He heard Sunghoon yelled back.
" The guest room is opposite the bathroom by the way. I can lend you some clothes if you nee-" Sunoo got cut off by Sunghoon saying " I'm finee, Jake is coming over later. Hope you don't mind! " Sunghoon said. " But- " Before Sunoo could say another word, Sunghoon was already out the room.
" Hey wonnie, about tonight... You can't come over, Jake is going to see Sunghoon tonight. Maybe we can play games tomorrow? " Sunoo said over the phone. "Can't, me and Jay planned to have a date tomorrow night, it's our anniversary! " Jungwon answered back. " sigh, it's fine then. We can do it another day. "

" Sunoo! " Sunghoon came crying to Sunoo. " Hoon? What's wrong? " Sunoo asked in worry. "Jake broke up with me! " Sunghoon said, making Sunoo sigh. " He's not the one for you, you deserve better, Hoon. " Sunoo comforted the older even though he knew the older was not going to listen no matter what.
" C'mon, I'll get you ice cream. " Sunoo said, smiling at Sunghoon.
" Have you figured things out with your mom yet? " Sunoo asked. " Yeah, she let me back in the house. And, thanks for letting me stay at your house for the night, can you help me pass this notebook to Jake? He left it at the library the other day..." Sunghoon said, passing a notebook to Sunoo. "Uh... alright I guess..."
" Jake! Sunghoon said you left this at the library..." Sunoo called for Jake. " I could've get it from the library myself, tell that slut to stop trying. " Jake said, snatching the notebook and using it to slap Sunoo's cheek, making the younger fall down.
Stupid motherfucker! Who does he think he is? The king of this school? Stupid rich kids. Sunoo thought as he examined the bruise in the mirror. " Hey, Sunoo. Did you pass the notebook to Jake? Did he say a thank you for me? Did he say he want me b-" Sunghoon rambled but got cut off by Sunoo yelling.
" Enough, Sunghoon! I'm sick of this. I'm sick of always taking care of your stupid problems! He punched me in the fucking face, can't you tell? Of course you can't, because you're a selfish prick who only cares about you! Am I your butler or friend? Tell me? TELL ME!"
" Let go of that obsession you have with him, keep the lesson. Sometimes I wish you weren't so oblivious. " Sunoo walked out of the bathroom, wiping away tears. Leaving Sunghoon to stand there to process what just happened. ------------
" I don't know! It's not my fault I'm oblivious! That's just the way I am, I didn't choose to be like that! " Sunghoon pulled his hair in frustration. " sigh, you've been chasing Jake for what? 3 years now? I'm surprised he didn't snap earlier. He's a great friend, but give him some time. " Sunghoon's best friend, Jay advised.
" I can't let go of Jake, you think I never tried? " " You didn't love him, you just didn't want to be alone. Or maybe, maybe he was good for your ego, or maybe he made you feel better about your miserable life, but you didn't love him. No matter how many times you tell yourself that, I know you don't, you don't love him. " Jay told his best friend.
" Y'know... Sunoo is like a four leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have. How rare is it to find a best friend who takes care of you, be there for you just like Sunoo? " Jay said, leaving right after to let Sunghoon think.
Am I really that dumb?
------------ 2 weeks has passed. And those 2 weeks were Sunghoon's most miserable weeks. He felt a piece of him was missing, he felt empty. He couldn't deal with it anymore. He wanted to just walk to Sunoo's doorstep and give him the biggest hug ever. But, he didn't want to seem desperate. So he kept himself busy, joining clubs and helping the teachers.
But everytime he pause, he thinks of Sunoo. About how the younger always looks up to him in adoration, always giving him the best back hugs, he missed them.
To say Sunoo was doing better was an absolute lie. He started having nightmares of the very same day, about Sunghoon shouting at him with anger in his eyes.
Weeks became a month, and Sunghoon decided to take things into his own hands. He went to the nearby donuts store, he knew Sunoo loved donuts so he bought 2 boxes of donuts for him and went to Sunoo's house.
* knock knock *
" Sunghoon...? What are you doing here? " Sunoo asked. " Uh... Can we talk? " " Sure, come in I guess... " Sunoo let Sunghoon inside his home. His home had been a mess, he didn't have any energy to clean it.
" I just want to say... I'm sorry. Poets can probably use countless words to describe their pain, but I only need three: I missed you. I didn't realise that you are a big part of my life, and I have been treating you like shit. Maybe... we can be friends again? " Sunghoon rambled, not taking his eyes away from the floor. " I cant forgive you just yet, but everyone deserves a second chance. Just please for the love of god dont get back with Jake! " Sunoo half joked. " I learnt my lesson. "
The two returned to a friendship and their bond was tighter than before. Sunghoon started returning back the kindness Sunoo gave him in the past, 2 weeks passed, a month, 4 months and it had already been 4 years.
They still remained their unbreakable bond in university, even with homeworks piling up their time, they still managed to find time for each other.
Sunoo felt confused, he had a crush on Sunghoon for 5 years now, and no piece of him wanted to confess it. He didn't want to be humiliated, heck he can't even stand in front of the class without almost having a panic attack.
Sunghoon on the other hand was planning something that can change him and his lover's life. ------------
" Sunghoon! This better be worth my time, i was in the middle of binge watching Stranger Things! I have to keep up with the trends, I'm late enough! " Sunoo said, he was currently blindfolded with Sunghoon holding his hand to guide him.
" You can open your eyes now. " Sunghoon said.
Sunoo was so happy that he had a hard time deciding whether or not to laugh or cry. Sunghoon was in front of him holding a sign saying "Kim Sunoo, will you be the love of my life? " the whole room was decorated with heart balloons, and some flower petals scattered on the floor.
" It was about time! Of course dumbass, I loved you for almost 6 years!" Sunoo gave the other a tight hug, he was practically in tears now. Not because he was disappointed or sad, but because he was overjoyed. "Ah... I'm sorry about that. " Sunghoon became flustered and kept his eyes on the floor. ------------
" Wow, I didn't know my parents were so cheesy. " Iris said, laughing. "Papa! Do you think I'll have a boyfriend like you guys too? " Their younger child, Aziel asked. " Maybe, but it's all up to you to decide. " Sunoo smiled.
And that was their love story.
