Chapter 60

Enzo

I shut off the phone, leaving the conference room. I call Nicole on my way to the car.

"Hey" her voice rings in my ears, I get into the car and grip the steering wheel.

"I just got a call from the guy I have working security at Valerie and Leo's place. He said he's been smelling gas in the area for days but didn't recognize the smell until now. He says he had to leave because it got unbearable"

"So did he figure out where the gas was coming from?" she questions, "No" my knuckles turn white as I pull out of the parking lot. "but he say Leo's car was parked in the driveway when he left."

She's quiet, waiting for me to answer questions she doesn't want to ask.

"he called me about seventeen times half an hour ago but I was in a meeting. Get in your car and meet me there". I throw the phone into the center console and pull onto the highway.

I jump out of the car, the gun in my right hand as I approach the front door. The house is dark and the door won't open. There's a small metal rod jammed in the door and broken.

I use the digital code, the button lights up green, I push it open and walk in.
