She's Back

Chapter 5

Sawyer's POV 

I explain everything to Onyx and the look of sadness is on his face but the anger in his eyes makes my heart break. I had to look away from him or else I would start crying.

I felt his hand on my chin, "Look at me" he says quietly but I don't because I'm scared of the disappointed look I might see

"Damnit Sawyer, Look at me!" he said with more force this time and so I look at him but I can already feel the tears going down my face

He wipes them away, "Why didn't you come to me? Why didn't you go to my dad? He loves you" he says heartbroken.

"I wanted to but she kept following me everywhere I went and then I tried to text someone but it kept saying 'undelivered'. She camped outside my house and followed me to the county line to make sure that I left" I say crying

"I felt trapped like I couldn't do anything, I had to get out of there. I- I understand if you are angry at me for not trying harder but that women hated me so much, she threatened to get Vanderbilt University to take away my scholarship and you know how important it was for me to keep it. They paid for everything. I'm a lawyer now and a damn good one. I own a practice in Georgia and- and I do really good for Zander and I. We are happy there, being here brings back so many memories about how much work we had to do to stay together because of YOU"RE FUCKING MOTHER!!" I shouted at him.

He couldn't say anything before I start talking again, "I'm not only here for my grandmother's Funeral. I'm here because I'm going after your mother and her 2 'compliances'. There's a lot you don't know what your mother has done but I can't tell you because it's still under investigation and me telling you this right now could get me in trouble. So please don't say anything to anyone. I hate to go talk to your dad but I have to figure out how to without her seeing me so she doesn't catch on and run." I say a little breathless from talking so much, so fast.

We don't talk for a while just enjoying the fire and trying to understand everything that is happening. "Before I found out that she was the last person to talk to you she helped me start my business. She did my books for 2 years before I realized she was stealing money from me and the company." He says lowly.

"Fuck. Do you still have those books? If so I need to see them immediately so I can make sure she didn't bring you into this mess and I need for you to go on record. When you do I can tell you a little about what is happening and you have to sign a NDA" I say quickly and I grab my phone make a call

"I still have everything just in case something happened, you can tell it's her hand writing too. I have video recordings of her admitting it too" he tells me.

"Okay great, who I'm about to call is someone you can't tell anyone about" I told him and he nods

'Fuck I didn't want him to find out this way.' I take a deep breath and click call.

"This is Sawyer Rhea Hazelwood; I need to speak to the commander immediately and I need a secured line" I say and I see Onyx look at me with a question in his eyes

I know that this is a short chapter but it's been a crazy 2 months, with being sick for a full month and then eye appointments
