A song everyone yearns to sing

A poem everyone wishes to write
A novel everyone wants to read

A forbidden fruit everyone wants to taste
A sweet sweet dessert just out of reach
To be free
Impossible to acquire
We are all trapped in this jail
To be free
A dream everyone wants to achieve
A fantasy everyone wants to live
To be free
A coat we all want to wear
A diamond we want to shine
To be free
The flower we all want to smell
The garden we all want to care for
To be free
A delusion full of lies
A facade for death
To be free
The sea we all want to surf
The ocean we all want to dive
To be free
The car we all want to own
The money we wish we had
To be free
The perfect ending everyone lusts for
The Cinderella's castle we want to live in
To be free
The scars futile to hide
And the tears cureless
To be free
The second chance everyone aches for
The hopeful world we pray for
To be free
The mysteries we wish we could solve
The knowledge we wish we had
To be free
The moon we walk on
The stars we all wonder about
To be free
What a joke
A myth
A lie
To be free
No one is free
No one can escape
No one can fly
To be free
A dream that will die
The hope that will fail
The sun that will no longer shine

A fruitless quest
A pointless journey
A false haven
To be free
There is no such thing
We are all doomed to die
Trapped in our own noose
To be free
Is what we will never be
Stuck in our own lies
Snagged on our own deception
To never be free
To die
To cry
To scream
To yell
