Felix woke startled as the box he was in was lifted. He experimentally wiggled his fingers, and found he could move his upper body again, but his legs were still sluggish. He dragged him self over to the bars, as best as he could, and peered between them.

They were headed towards a large white building, with a large scrawny sign out front. It had a porch and an awning as well.

They walked up the steps (well the alien did), and through the large door. Once they stepped in Felix looked around and noticed other boxes, like the one he was in, next to more aliens. He caught a glimpse of what was in some of the boxes, and felt a wave of panic wash over him.

Every box contained a creature almost like a human, but with variations of fur, claws, horns, feathers, and scales. Some had bandages wrapped around different appendages, and others just looked exhausted and run down. It was then that he realized, the boxes were carriers, and he was an animal or pet to these large creatures, meaning the one carrying him was his owner. With this new realization it dawned on him what the building was. It was a vets office. He really was a pet to these creatures.

Another of the large aliens, a female he guessed, based of off its higher voice, and curvier shape, with almost teal hair and eyes, stepped out of a doorway and called something in that garbled language of theirs. The alien holding Felix stood up and followed her back through the doorway.

They were led into a smaller room with a a set of cabinets along the bottom of part of the room, connected to a counter that came away from the wall, and had a squishy looking mat on top.

The female alien left, and the one holding Felix's carrier set it on the table. They were alone for a couple of minutes, before the door they came through swung open, and another alien walked in. This one was wearing a lane coat, and looked older than most of the other aliens he had seen. Felix guessed that the new alien was a doctor, but thought again and realized he was probably a vet.

The two aliens were talking above him for awhile, and Felix wondered if he had been forgotten, but proving him wrong the vet leaned down to the door of his box, and cooed garbled sentences at him, making Felix cringe. Vet, as Felix aptly named him, moved away from the carrier, and Felix hoped he was done. Unfortunately it seemed lucky just wasn't on his side today.

The bars in the opening of the carrier slid away, startling Felix. He flinched, and saw large hands moving towards him. At this he panicked, and let out an inhuman cry. He threw himself towards the back of the carrier, regaining his ability to move from all the adrenaline coursing through him, and curled into a ball. His body was acting on instinct, and while he desperately wanted to flee, after years of abuse from his brother, all he could do was try and cover his head and stomach. He couldn't fight back, that would just end up in him getting hurt worse. His breathing picked up, and he started shaking violently. After a few seconds without feeling anything hit him, he cracked his eyes open. The hands weren't there anymore, but he couldn't bring himself to move. He closed his eyes again and curled up tighter, if that was even possible.

Felix felt a cold prick at the back of his neck, and before he could react that sluggish feeling was back, but this time it was accompanied by a warm fogginess in his mind. He felt so warm and content, all the stress melted out of his body. The hands wet back, and they started to pick him up, but he couldn't bring himself to pull away from them.

The carrier was moved to the floor, and Felix was placed on the table instead. His limbs felt heavy, but he could still move them, and he rolled to his side, to pick at the squishy mat under him. Vet cooed at him again, and his owner ran his finger through Felix's hair. Felix felt himself purr, and he pushed his head into the warm finger in his hair. Both aliens seemed a little startled by his purring, but Vet muttered something, and Felix felt the hand on his head start scratching again.

Vet walked to one of the cabinets, and bent down to grab something from them. He pulled out a black bag, and Felix watched him rip it open to pull out an odd looking syringe. He placed what looked like a black piece of rice into the tip of the syringe, before pulling a small bottle out of the black bag. He stuck the syringe into the bottle, and filled it with what looked like water. He then picked up the black bag and moved behind the table. Felix tried to turn around and see what he was doing, but Vet said something, and his owner held him still.

Felix couldn't bring himself to fight the large hands holding him down, so he sighed and layer still. He heard popping sound, and briefly caught a glimpse of the syringe over his shoulder. It now had a needle on the tip, but before Felix could even react, he felt a prick at his neck again. Vet walked back toward the cabinets, and Felix saw that the syringe was now empty, and was promptly tossed into a red bin on the counter.

Vet grabbed a brown square looking object, about the size of a large grape. It was handed to Felix, who drooled as he grabbed it. It was the most mouth watering thing he'd ever smelled, and he promptly devoured the whole thing. Felix could feel himself becoming tired, and closed his eyes. He was starting to fall asleep, but before he lost consciousness, he heard talking. He cracked his eyes open, and looked at Vet, who seemed to be the one talking.

"That's all for today, the translators in place, and he shouldn't need to come back till his next checkup."  He heard Vet say clearly in English. Felix was stunned to say the least, but the tug of sleep was too strong, and he fell into its darkness.
