Book 2: The Alpha Who Cursed Me

Chapter 10: Mending

When we received word that the royal council had found my sister. I was warned that it was not pretty.
Several days had passed since she was kidnapped and she had been beaten almost the whole time she was gone.
I tried reaching for her with my mind. It was always the same image.
Large White House with 3 smaller houses behind it. I tried so hard once it made my nose bleed.
I have never seen someone so scared as Tyee was that day. He pleaded with me to stop.
"Joan you are going to hurt yourself. Please stop. We will find her I swear to you."
I finally gave into him. But the nightmares began again after that.
My father lifeless in a field covered in blood. My mom died with her eyes and mouth wide open. And then the blackness with endless screams. And then the large White House right before I'd wake up in a cold sweat. Shaking and too afraid to go back to sleep by myself.
Tyee noticed right away I wasn't sleeping. So he would bring me tea before bed. To try to help me with the lack of sleeping. Sometimes we would take walks while he checked on the warriors doing patrol.
We were walking the evening Alpha Kai got my sisters official location.
Alpha Kai called a ranking pack members meeting in secret. He told Tyee to bring me and for Alo to bring Lena.
"I'm calling this meeting in secret. Away from the pack house. All who are here. Can be trusted. We have not found the trader among us. And until we do. All important meetings will be held in secret. Our mole helped with the kidnapping of my mate. But today the moon goddess shines her light on us. Leia had been found. Please note that we are leaving at dawn to go get her." Kai says. Turning to me he says. " I for one need to apologize. I didn't hear you out. And you were right all a long. She was located at the pack house of Alpha Kyle just outside."
I cut him off I knew where she was. "Just outside of Muskogee." I said plain and matter of fact.
"Yeah, yeah. We are taking our pack plane. It's quicker and it can cargo a vehicle." He says
I simple reply " Before either one of you ask. It comes in like snapshots. That's the best way I can explain it. Lena says it has something to do with Grandmother Spider's blessing. My sister gets deja vu and I get snapshots. If it wasn't for the curse we would have probably known of our abilities already."
"Plus my sister's wolf is different and if the wolf in my dreams is my wolf. Mine is different as well."

***Kai's POV

As an alpha, I am here to hear my pack members concerns, thoughts and hopes.
But I was so heavily invested in trying to make sure that I followed protocol.
That my mate suffered.
Joan has been right from the start.
Damn it!
Leia sat in a cell like a prisoner and I did nothing.
Will she still love me?
I could've done more?
Should I have done more?
I have failed her as a mate and I hope she can accept the fact that I wanted to try to do things correctly this time around. Last time my father lost his life going against protocol.
The closer it gets to us leaving to go get Leia. Jax gets more and more restless. But if I let him out. There will be blood shed.
We arrived as the sun was rising. And drove over to the pack house where we were instructed to stay. The doctors were releasing her from the hospital and the council was being my mate to me.
Joan had been through an array of emotions being back in Oklahoma and getting to see her sister alive again. Tyee has spoken to me about her not sleeping. And after Leia is back home safe. We are going to take her to see the pack doctor. Joan has lost weight since Leia has been gone. And I know she has been pushing her new found ability. Again a bridge that will be crossed once everything is back to normal.
Alpha's are allowed to be "human" and a little selfish. Jax keeps reminding me that our mate is priority numero uno. And for now I 100 percent agree. Later I will get back to taking care of business. I just need to see her and hear her voice again. Then the world will be alright. I know my time with her is limited.
Joan is the only one who knows my secret. She has seen what is to come. Her snapshots as she calls it. I am ok with it. The first snapshot she got. We talked about it. The goddess came to me in a dream once. I knew what it meant. Joan is wise beyond her years.
Back in the day we would have called her a seer. She just doesn't know how powerful she is yet.
If she ever receives her wolf. That power of hers just might be unstoppable. Thank the goddess she is on her sister's side. Because we will need all the help we can get in the days to come. For now it's healing and mending.
Speaking of mending.
My brain will need some mending after seeing my mate get out of the back of the truck she came in from the hospital. The varies stages of bruising all over her back and face makes me want to burn the place to the ground.
I can tell she is still hurting by the grim look on her face.
I need to fix this and dress her. She is a Luna for crying out loud. They can show some respect by giving her clothes.
The blue eye she has now. As she looks at me tells me all I needed to know.
I swoop her up bridal style and take her to the healer.
"I got you babe." I whisper to her hair as she buries her face into my chest.
