My dreams have become a lot more vivid. My wolf kept saying "sounds like a whistle." Only thing I see clearly is an arrow. To make matters worse. I always wake up crying. I don't understand it. All the other snapshots made sense.
Plus Tyee has been very diligent about my lock down. Only females are allowed near me. I swear one kiss and this man has been stuck to me like glue.
I appreciate his concern for my safety. But I think it also has to do with him staking his claim. It's a wolf thing I think. All I know is that I'm going stir crazy being inside. So today while every able body is training in shifts. A protocol that has gone into full effect after the attack that lead to my sister's kidnapping.
And also Alpha Kai order the house will be cleared out so the contractors can build the panic room in secret. Another safe precaution.
The plan is that Tyee is going to take a walk with me in the garden.
"Joan are you in here?" Tyee call out. Speaking of Tyee.
I can hear the anxiety in his voice.
"Yes. One second." I tell him this so he doesn't come in. Apparently my period is triggering Leia to go into heat as well. Fun. Right?
Today I made sure to shower and use both feminine hygiene products I have, to help mask any and all potential scents.
I turn the corner to caught his eyes flicker. He is struggling to keep Sakaw in check.
I call out to his wolf.
"Sakaw my mate. My protector. Please behave I need some fresh air. Or I will go insane."
Sakaw pushes to the surface. "As you wish my love but if anything happens to you. I will go on a war path. Tyee may have agreed to this. But I don't play with your safety. Just this once I will allow it."
Allow it.
Allow it!
I walk pass Tyee and his wolf, pushing my way to the outside garden.
Allow it. Who does he think he is?
"I get it. I'm defective you don't have to keep me hidden away. I already know that." I say in a whisper. But one of the things you get when you receive your wolf is heightened senses. So of course he heard me.
We walk in silence for a bit. And just before we clear the roses the sun peaks out of the clouds.
"Joan." Tyee says softly. He reaches out and his finger tips lightly graze the inside of my wrist. As he wraps his fingers around my wrist and tugs me gentle towards him.
"Where your sister is hard. Wait... No.... let me rephrase that. Where these life experiences lately have hardened your sister. It has softened you." I roll my eyes and sigh heavily. "Now hear me out Joan. Your sister is an alpha Luna. She is strong and independent. But also she is not very motherly like most lunas I know. And I'm not saying that, there is anything wrong with that."
"You Joan. You possess that motherly, nurturing, lovable quality."
"You two. You and your sister are two sides to the same coin. You see her strengths. And deem them your weaknesses. But you are your own person." Tyee says. "Lena talks about how you were so natural with the twins."
"Did you know that there are Omegas that are late bloomers."
"Duh! Tyee my mom told me about that. But I am not an omega."
"No Joan you are not but you can teach all wolves that it's ok to just be who they are. That every wolf, every person has a place or purpose."
"How Tyee? When I don't even know what my purpose is." I say almost in tears.
"Joan you are a light in the darkness. Kai would not have ever made it through your sister's kidnapping. If you had not been here. Your insight lead to your sister coming home. And Lena calls you the baby whisperer. LOL."
"I see your point."
" I truly hope you do. Because I have a feeling your sister will need your light. Marrying Kai is going to be a lot to take on. She will need you to hear her when no one else is there to listen. Like all sisters do. But most of all she is expected to produce an heir. And while she is strong. Strong women need their mom too. While at least in this case their sister. To help them be something they never thought the would be."
" And what is that?" I say to Tyee. Giggling as he try's to tickle me.
"A mother to a pack and an alpha pup. Cause you and I both know how mischievous an alpha pup could be." Tyee chuckles and then grins at me.
We walk in a comfortable silence for a bit. And I stop to sit on a bench. Tyee stops with me but stands. I notice he hardly ever sits down. Only if he is eating, sleeping or someone forces him to. Tyee usually ops to stand up.
"Tyee quick question?" He nods so I will proceed.
"Why are you always standing?"
"Funny you should ask. It comes out of habit. See I was in the military for years. And military decorum requires junior servicemen to come to attention when a senior member (above a certain rank) enters the room. It a sign of respect and discipline."
"Oh is that also why you are always scanning the room. Especially if you are in a crowd."
Tyee laughs. It booms out as he throws his head back. "Am I that obvious? Man. Military habits are hard to break."
"Yeah. You protect this pack and me with a sense of purpose. Not that I am complaining. But I also notice you protect Alpha Kai from a lot of nonsense as well."
He laugh is brighting up my day. After wiping tears from his eyes. His chuckles die down. "Yeah it out of duty and love. "Especially when it comes to you. Joan I fell in love with you the moment I met you. The first time I held your hand sealed the deal for me. And as you are growing into this beautiful woman. And finding your place in this world. I am here. For whatever you need. Even if it means it's not me you choose in the end. Will I die a little inside if I am not your forever person. Sure. But I am here 100% anyway."
Before I can open my mouth to say anything. Tyee puts a finger to my lips. And points to someone creeping pass the rose bushes. It was then that I noticed Gem with the whistle around her neck. Coming our direction.
Could that be the whistle I hear in my dreams and what does Gem have to do with my visions. We set quietly and watch her disappear towards the Northern boarder. I will be sure to bring it up to Kai or Leia next time I see them.

Author note
Joan's story has been hard for me. I wanted her story to be different from her sister. I want Joan to have the happily ever after. But how that happens is a big part of her journey. So in the next chapter she gets some sisterly advice on dating.
As always thanks for reading my book. Xoxo Peeps
