HIS PANICKED EXPRESSION alerted everyone in the hospital as he busted through the doors. Multiple people were sitting in the waiting room, either reading a magazine or scrolling on their phone, but all eyes turned to him as he entered the building. Most of the people were in their 70s and had no idea that he was famous, but the few younger generations let their jaws drop in shock as he stood in front of their eyes.
The people that worked in the hospital easily recognized him and he was instantly informed with directions to his destination. It only took about a minute before he was on the right floor and wing of the hospital.
Jan Luis had tried his best to get to his family as quickly as possible. However, it turned out to be more difficult than he thought since the distance between the two countries were further than he wished. Or at least what he wished in the moment. It had taken him just under 14 hours with plane, and then another two hours due to the car rides that took him to the airport as well as the hospital once he had landed.
The second his mother had told him the news on the phone he felt the color drain from his face. He didn't know what to do, nor how do react. And it didn't help that his ex-girlfriend was watching his every move while he got one of the worst calls of his life.
Nobody had expected that they would find themselves in this situation. The accident was so sudden and completely out of the blue. His father was just driving to the grocery store as some ingredients were missing for the dinner Danielle and him were cooking for the night. If only they had cooked something else.
"They don't know if he'll make it." Those exact words were what made him shake in his boot. He couldn't think straight and dropped everything to get home as fast as possible. JL knew he needed to be strong for his family and be there by their side. It was a difficult time for all of them.
Once the doors to the elevator opened the man quickly wiped his eye with the back of his hand. He didn't want anyone to see the lonely tear that had slipped out just a second ago. His family instantly caught sight of his familiar figure and stood up from their chairs to rush over to him. Due to the sudden movement in the corner of his eye, his head turned in their direction, and he smiled sadly at the sight of his family.
All of them looked completely broken as if the building had drained them off their energy. Their red and puffy eyes were a clear indicator that they had been crying, but he couldn't blame them as he'd been doing the exact same on the flight here.
It only took a second before Selena was clinging to his body. At the feeling of his arms wrapped around her, her walls, that kept her emotions in control, completely fell apart. She buried her face in his shirt, and he felt how her whole body shook while silent tears streamed down her face. He quickly understood that she was crying and his heart clenched at the thought of his sister being in pain. He automatically held her tighter to comfort her, but also himself. JL absolutely hated seeing anyone cry, especially someone he cares so deeply about.
