The train stopped and awoke Ameylia from her slumber. The girl rubbed her eyes awake and looked to her side. Everyone had left the cart except Verah. She noticed Ameylia awakening and grabbed her hand.
"Ready?" She said, looking around. Ameylia shrugged and the girl pulled her out of the cart, luggage on her other arm. The two made their way up a large hill that many other students were walking on. Ameylia took to notice that all the first years were gone.
"Don't worry about 'em." Verah read the girls expression. "They have to get a tour before they get sorted." Ameylia shrugged, still bored and tired. But those feelings didn't last long as they reached the top of the hill and a ginormous castle appeared.
"Welcome to Hogwarts, Silver." Fred patted Ameylias back as he walked up beside her.
"It way bigger than Ilvermorny." The girl stated and turned to Verah as they continued down the path, approaching gates that the tallest wizard, assumed a professor, opened with their wand. "Wait, what'dya mean, sorted?"
Verah snorted. "They teach ya anything at Ilvermorny? Anyway, it's a ceremony all first years attend where they get sorted into a house." Ameylias silence allowed Verah to continue. "Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor. Those are the 'houses." Ameylia nodded in understanding. "Since you're a transfer, I'm not quite sure whatay'll do with ya."
"Which house are you?"
"All us Weasleys are Gryffindor. Except Oakly. She's Ravenclaw. Might explain why she's more primp that the rest of us?"
Ameylia nodded again, this time unsure. The students finally approached the Castles entrance where another figure started leading them. The boy turned to the crowd of students and cleared his throat.
"Everyone to the great hall after you set your bags in your dorms that your house prefect will assign you. Transfers follow me."
All the kids strutted off and Verah wished Ameylia luck as she walked forward to the tall boy.
"Seems you're the only transfer. Strange." The boy said. "Alright. Follow me, Granger."
The two walked into the Castle through a much smaller door than the entrance one. They trotted down the quiet hall and finally, into a dark room only lit by candles on a chest.
"Stay in here. You will be sorted, then you can attend the ceremony." Ameylia nodded and looked around. No one else was in the room now that the boy left. Then entered a tall man with slicked back black hair. Tinted with either jell or grease.
"Sit." He said, motioning towards a stool by the candles. Ameylia did so and bit her lip. She wanted to be sorted into Gryffindor so she could be with Verah and the other Weasleys. She didn't know much about the other houses.
The man with black greasy hair grabbed what looked like a huge hat, Ameylia couldn't tell him the sim light. He placed it onto the small brunettes head and it...spoke!
"Urghhhh," the hat gurgled, like it just awoke from the nap of its lifetime. "You want to be in Gryffindor, Ayi?"
"Yes, I-" Ameylia started excitedly before the Hat shushed her.
"Too bad. Ravenclaw." It spat. "Now get me off before you're put into Slytherin instead." The black haired man took off the hat and Ameylia jumped off the stool where he set it. He picked up the stool and nudged Ameylia with it to leave the room.
She walked down the hall, confusing as it was, and found the great hall. She strutted in and searched for Verah. She was easy to find, her orange hair radiant amongst other Weasleys, and her dark makeup standing out. Ameylia quickly ran to the table and slipped into a seat.
"Well? Your house?" Verah asked with excitement, now all the students at the table's eyes on Ameylia.
"Erm, Ravenclaw." She nodded and Verah put out a pouty lip.
"Too bad. You'd make a great Gryffindor." Verah shook her head then clapped her hands once. "No matter. Oakly's in Ravenclaw. You'll be right with her."
Ameyli shrugged uneasily and Fred grabbed her shoulder.
"Not to worry, Silver. Our cousins cold at first, but she'll warm up quick." He tapped her head. "Just use your brain, and don't be lame."
Ameylia smiled in response as and old man at the front of the hall coughed for attention. All the students went quiet and turned to the front.
"Students, head to your house tables." The old man said, wand at hand. "New years, at the Gryffindor table."
Chatter filling the hall, students pushed through crowds of eachother to sit down. Verah pointed to the Ravenclaw table and Ameylia nodded, making her way over to it. She spotted the familiar short haired ginger and sat down in between her and a dark haired girl.
"You're the transfer from Ilvermorny, arentch you?" The girl spoke with a strong Scottish accent and Ameylia turned to nod. "I'm Cho Chang. Welcome to Hogwarts. Are you satisfied with being sorted into Ravenclaw?"
Ameylia shrugged. "I was hoping Gryffindor. But only because I knew people from there."
"Don't worry too much. Ravenclaws very welcoming. Plus, we hang out lots with Gryffindors. And Hufflepuffs. As long as you're not planning on being in quidditch that is."
"What about Slytherins? And what's quidditch?"
"Quidditch is a magical sport involving all houses, but only two at a time, in competition. I'm auditioning this year, actually." Cho smiled. Amelia nodded before Cho explained to her that most slytherins were just bad news anyways so she'd be better off not associating with them at all. After that the sorting ceremony begun.
"Hannah Abott."
"Hufflepuff!" The Hufflepuffs cheered and other houses clapped."Hermione Granger!" Ameylia clapped for her sister as the girl with ginormous hair strutted up to the stool. She sat down quickly and the hat stammered.
"R- well...no, Gryffindor!"Everyone clapped and the Gryffindors chanted their names.
"Neville Longbottom!"
"Gryffindor!""Harry Potter."
The room went very quiet as the boy hesitantly walked to the front. Everyone ogled, and he was put into Gryffindor. The house roared with delight but a sneer from a young blonde was louder. Ameylia turned to Oakly with question."Harry's sort of a big deal." She nodded, reading Ameylias expression. "He's going to earn a big ego fast, here."
Ameylia nodded, she seemed to be good at that,
and the next name was announced."Natalie Potter."
Multiple sounds of confusion came from the student crowd and the teacher that helped sort Ameylia stood up. He looked around and stopped his eyes on a short girl with black hair and pale skin. She walked up front, ignoring all the attention on her and jumped onto the stool. Before the hat even touched her head it screeched."Ravenclaw!" She slid off the chair and made her way over to our table, everyone still in disbelief. Ameylia clapped with the rest of her house as Natalie sat on the far end next to the prefect.
"Is she Harry's..." Ameylia started to ask before Oakly interrupted.
"Sister. But nobody knew about her but us Weasleys and Barrows. Barrows, as in me and my mum."
"So why wasn't she there when we were at the train statio-"
"Because she's all independent. Her and Harry have lots of...sibling rivalry." Oakly interrupted, combing her hair with her fingers. "It's sort of a long story."
Ameylia turned to the ravenette girl who was staring at her brother. Maybe since her and Natalie were both new and in the same house, they'd get along. Or maybe she'd hand out with Hermione instead. Ameylia's eyes travelled to her sister who was laughing with Harry and Ron. Guess she made friends fast, too.
