Part Two: 2017Coralie
It was an especially busy day at the Tranquility Base Hotel&Casino that day.
Cori was sitting in her stuffed office, flicking through a contract. She just got the license for the casino she built in the spare hall the hotel provided.
"Miss Desormeaux, there's a problem in the front." a staff member of hers said and she looked up, her face signed by the time. Slight frown lines decorated her forehead. The building of the hotel really took a toll on the poor woman.
She quickly noticed why nobody wanted the grand hotel. It was a complete mess. There was mold everywhere, water damage everywhere, and construction botch wherever you looked. It took more money and time than expected from her, but with the help of many many workers, and good law firms, she did it.
She build her dream hotel. She achieved what she was dreaming about.
Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
And it was a hit. She was almost booked out all the time, the press quickly picked up on the trending hotel. She even went that far and got onto the Forbes 30 under 30.
She had her 500-headed staff, and she picked out every one of them herself. She paid them a good price, and she barely got complaints.
"What is it, Michelle?" she asked, standing up from her chair and rounding her desk. "There's someone on the line that wants to speak to the head of the hotel." Cori looked confused.
"Did you send him to the manager?" she asked and Michelle said she did everything she could but they wouldn't let her argue with them.
"Let's see" she said and followed Michelle out to the grand welcome hall, the crystal chandelier hanging boldly in the middle of the room.
It was bustling outside her office. It was like she imagined it to be. Honeymooners, Families, couples and business- men and women, checking in.
"This one" she pointed toward the handset that lay next to the old-school red dial phone.
Cori took a deep breath, and picked it up.
"Good Aternoon, Tranquility Base, Hotel and Casino, Coralie Desormeaux speaking, please tell me how may I direct your call?" she said her usual line.
"Cori?" A man's voice was on the other line.
"Yes, do I know you, Sir?" she asked, a little scared that this man knew her nickname.
"Alexander here, do you remember?" he said, his voice so soft and silent she almost didn't hear him.
But she did and her heart dropped. "Al, oh my God. Of course, how could I forget?" she laughed, and then she was silent.
How could she? How could she remember them man many of her daydreams were about. The man she fantasized about.
"Didn't know you run this hotel." he mumbled.
"Yeah, I do. Why are you calling?" she asked, finally getting to the point.
"Right yeah. I wanted to book a room." he said, his voice sounding neutral.
"Sure thing, when?" she asked, opening the calendar on the computer.
"Next week, I need 4 rooms for 6 weeks" he said, rustling and voices in the background.
"Next week? That's a bit sudden Alex, we're short on rooms the next week. I have two standard rooms, one suite and one honeymoon suite free. That's all I have. I'm sorry" she said, trying her hardest to find something else.
"Nothing else? Are you sure? It's important" he pressed, desperation clear in his voice.
"I'm very sorry Alex, really. But there's another free room on the 18 calendar week, so you could move rooms if you'd like that." she said, quickly reserving that room.
Alex sighed through the phone. "Yeah, alright. Thank you. I'll book the rooms."
Cori smiled like a little kid. She would see Alex again.
"Great, I book them, yeah? Do you want to pay here or forward?" she asked, going into business.
"I'll pay there" he answered. "Great, so we'll see each other next week?"
"Yes, we will"
"Bye Alex. I'm waiting on you"
"And I'm waiting for you"
Cori placed the phone back on its stand and smiled at Michelle. "Everything good Michelle, don't look so frightened, dear" she smiled at her employee who shyly smiled back.
She'll see Alexander fucking Turner again.
