song for the chapter:
Way to Go , Empire of the Sun

As the night slowly came to an end, there was only a small group of people left in the bar. Still gathered around the pool table stood Danielle, Natasha, Hangman, Coyote, Payback, Fanboy, and Rooster.

Penny had closed the bar for the night, letting the last few of them finish their game. As late as it was, it was great to have them all back.

Danielle sat on a chair sipping her last beer of the night. Natasha standing next to her, wrapped her arm around her shoulders as they watched a few of the guys play pool; Hangman, Fanboy, Coyote, and Payback.

The others had left earlier claiming they needed good sleep.

Danielle didn't want to leave. Frankly, she'd like to stay the entire night. Being in The Hard Deck, surrounded by friends always made her feel good. Made her feel excited again, like it was her first time at Top Gun. While she missed her old classmates, she could already tell she would enjoy being around everyone she had met.

That is, if she could bear with Hangman.

"And that's how you win a bet." Hangman says, sinking the last ball into a corner pocket and holding the cue next to him. Coyote sighs and reluctantly hands him a twenty dollar bill.

"Remind me to never play with him." Rooster whispers to Danielle and Natasha, making them laugh quietly.

"Hey Hart-" Hangman starts but notices Danielle glare. "Poison," he corrects himself. "why don't you give it a go?"

"I'm alright. I have a feeling you'd be a sore loser." She smirks at him taking one last sip of beer before placing the empty bottle on a table.

"Like you could beat me." He holds the twenty dollar bill he had won earlier between his fingers before tucking it into his pocket.

"You're damn right I could." Danielle stands from her chair. Natasha quickly puts her hands on her shoulders.
"As much as I'd love to see this, we should probably go." Natasha says looking between the two.

"It is late." Rooster says with a nod.
But Danielle and Hangman had not taken their eyes off of each other. Giving almost menacing glares. It was like they were having a staring contest. Neither one wanted to lose.

"Come on." Natasha pulls Danielle out of her trance and they started making their way out of the bar.

"Great now maybe you guys can help me clean up this place, hm?" Penny calls out from behind the bar.

"See Penny, we've got work in the morning." Payback jokes, putting his cue away.
"Yeah yeah, go get some rest you guys." Penny says dismissing them.

The group all walked out to the parking lot, sharing a few laughs as to why anyone wanted to bet against Hangman. Danielle had linked arms with Natasha as they walked to their cars.

"Hey Tasha, can I ask a favor?" Danielle asks leaning her head on her shoulder.
"Hm?" Natasha hums.
"S'there any chance I could stay with you?"
"You're saying you didn't plan and book a place?" Natasha looks at her and Danielle just shakes her head.

"I never do."
"Alright fine. You're lucky I have an extra room."

"We better get goin." Payback says walking over to the two women. "I assume you're good on a ride?" he nods over to Danielle.

"Dani will take me home." Natasha says smiling at Payback.
"We'll see ya then."
The two wave bye to Payback and Fanboy as they climbed up into a truck a drove off.
