One evening as Alexis is in her guest room she soon hears racket and follows the sound to Rapunzel's room and sees her with a yo-yo.
"Um? What's going on in here?" Alexis asks as she comes into the room.
"She's trying to make an invention." Eugene says.
"Invention?" Alexis asks curiously.
"Oh yeah. I forgot you just started staying with us yesterday to visit. Today is the science exposition! I really got inspired and I wanna make an invention of my own to enter. Why don't you enter an invention Alexis?" Rapunzel asks as she smiles.
"Uh no thanks. Inventions aren't exactly my thing. I don't mind watching but I'm not the best at that type thing. You go for it though Rapunzel." Alexis says.
"Hard to believe you two are cousins." Eugene says.
"Well technically I was adopted into the royal family. Even though Rapunzel and I do share similar interests it's not hard to tell us apart." Alexis says as she looks at Eugene.
"I got another idea! Just wait here you two!" Rapunzel shouts as she runs off.
*Timeskip*
"Carrots, celery, cucumbers. What do these have in common?" Rapunzel asks as she is presenting her new invention.
"Uh I don't eat them. No wait. Don't tell me." Eugene says as Pascal throws a tomato at him.
"We chop them! But knives can be really dangerous! That's why I invented the Safety Slicer! Just load it up and... Slice! Voila!" Rapunzel says as she puts the veggies into her invention.
"Ooh! That seems a little extreme right? Imean for produce? Besides I think they have something like that already." Eugene says uncomfortably.
"Really? This too? Oh! How am I supposed to know everything that's ever been invented?" Rapunzel asks annoyedly.
"Just try something a bit more practical." Alexis says.
"Practical. Okay. Sure. Automatic laundry cart?" Rapunzel asks.
"Now that I have not seen." Eugene says as Rapunzel walks off before Eugene gives a terrified look watching Pascal cut produce.
"Um Pascal just a thought but maybe wait till Rapunzel gets back to mess with that thing." Alexis says as she picks up Pascal.
"She probably just went to think of an idea. She should be back soon." Eugene says.
"Well I'm gonna take a walk. Let her know I'll be back by nightfall." Alexis says.
"Nightfall? Why so late?" Eugene asks.
"She did tell you what I could do? Right?" Alexis asks as she places Pascal on Rapunzel's bed.
"Oh yeah.. you're a wolf shifter." Eugene says.
"Yep. Just tell her I'll be back. I wanna go look around. I wish her the best of luck. I would stay but it's just not my cup of tea." Alexis says before she shifts and runs off.
*Timeskip*
As Alexis is walking she soon spots Cassandra and Rapunzel with a boy and runs over.
"Rapunzel how'd it go?" Alexis asks.
"Ah! Talking wolf!" The boy shouts in alarm.
"Relax kid. This is Alexis. She's a wolf shifter." Cassandra says.
"She's also my cousin and to answer you it wasn't a complete disaster but there's definitely gonna be some cleaning up tomorrow." Rapunzel says.
"Sounds like it went well otherwise." Alexis says.
"It did. Nice to meet you Alexis. I never met a wolf shifter before. How are you able to do this? It's unnatural but also unique." The boy says as he begins looking at Alexis.
"Whoa! Kid back up. I don't mind questions but do mind my personal space bubble." Alexis says as she backs away from the boy.
"Sorry. I guess I got kinda excited. Science is something I'm good at so my curiosity gets the better of me sometimes." The boy says sheepishly.
"I can tell." Alexis says as she smiles before shifting to human form.
"I'm Varian by the way." The boy says kindly.
"Nice to meet you Varian. Thanks for being respectful about me ability. Some are not always respectful about it but my kingdom is pretty respectful and accepting." Alexis says.
"I'm just curious more than anything. Would you mind if I did some research on you sometime? I just wanna know more." Varian says.
"Oh uh sure? Just no dangerous experiments please." Alexis says.
"Deal." Varian says as he chuckles.
"As cute as you two are right now Varian remember the black rocks?" Rapunzel asks.
"Black rocks?" Alexis asks curiously
"Oh right. This way!" Varian says as he runs off.
*Timeskip*
"Whoa." Alexis says as the group finds some black rocks.
"It was amazing. They just kind of sprouted up a couple weeks ago. I have never seen anything like it." Varian says.
"And you called me unique. This is odd even for my eyes." Alexis says before Rapunzel's hair begins glowing and rocks react to her.
"Fascinating. The rocks are demonstrating an actual physical you." Varian says in amazement.
"Shh! Varian. I need you to promise to keep this between you and me okay?And them." Rapunzel says.
"Wh- Why?" Varian asks confusedly.
"Because my dad has forbidden me from talking about these rocks to anyone. We collectively are going to figure it out. But I need to know that I can trust you." Rapunzel says.
"You can count on me." Varian says happily.
"Alexis you too. If my dad finds out he is not gonna be happy." Rapunzel says as she looks at Alexis.
"I can do that. I wanna help. You're my cousin after all." Alexis says as she smiles.
