I woke up alone on the bed and I smiled to myself,this is the best sleep I have had in my entire years of existence.
I got out from the bed and went downstairs to the kitchen because I figured Grayson would be around.
I was surprised to see Erica and girls already there, but there was an awkward tension in the room, especially since Annalise has been glaring at me ever since I entered the room.
Erica served me the breakfast she brought from home,just the way I like it.
I was in the middle of eating when my phone rang,I check the caller ID to see it was my lovely husband.
I excused myself to answer the call.
"Oh thank God Jane. I thought something happened to you,you've not been picking up my calls and you weren't home or at your dad's place. Fuck! Where are you?"he rambles on and I sigh.
"You don't have to worry about me,I'm fine. I'll be home later today. I'm at Grayson's house" I tell him
"What! Why the fuck would you be at our chauffeur's home!"he yells through the phone.
"Don't fucking yell or curse at me Flynn. I am not a child,I am your wife and I demand respect. I am already mad you so don't add up to the list"I hiss through the phone and there was silence for a while.
I hear him let out a sigh before speaking.
"I am sorry okay,I was just worried sick about you and our baby. Please come home"he softly says
"Like I said I'll be back later today"I say back
"But why are you with him by the way "he asks curiously
"That is confidential but don't worry everything is professional "I tell him to erase every negative thought.
"Okay, I trust you. I love you, please be careful "he says
"Okay "I tell him and hang up
I walked back inside to see Grayson deep in thoughts and Erica and Piper busy talking and making jokes. .
"Thank you for coming to our aid on this short notice Dr. Banks,you don't know how much this means to us"I tell her as she sits down on the couch.
Erica and the kids are playing outside, so Grayson and I can discuss with the doctor.
"It is nothing Mrs. Halan. I'm glad you called me"she says with a small smile.
"You can call me Jane doctor. Mrs. Halan makes me feel old" I tell her with a laugh
"Okay sure. Also congratulations on your pregnancy"she says
"Thank you. Oh this is Mr. Grayson Dolan,the husband of the patient"I introduce
"Oh hi,I am here to help you as best as I can" she says and he nods.
"Thank you so much doctor "Grayson's says
"So,can I see the patient and her medical history report " She asks
"Okay sure. Right this way " Grayson says and lead the way.
We went upstairs to their bedroom,his wife wasn't asleep,she was talking to the nurse.
"Hey baby,this is Dr. Banks,she is now taking up your treatment" he says to her and she nods.
"Doctor this is my wife Bryanna "
" Nice to meet you Bryanna. I am here to help you get back on your feet" she says
Grayson hands her the medical file and she goes through it with different types of facial expression which makes our anxiety more worse.
She closes the file with sigh and I know this isn't good news.
"I'm going to honest with you Mr. Dolan, your wife's chemo isn't working for her,she has neuroclosis (made it up myself), which means her system is immune to the chemo. I still need to run some tests on her "she explains
"What?! Doctor what are you talking about?"Grayson asks
"A normal cancer patient undergoing chemo will eventually have hair fallout but your wife isn't. Don't worry Mr. Dolan there is still hope,we have new set of chemotherapy for these kind of people and your wife can undergo that one. If you are willing because it is a 50/50 chance"she explains
"So you are saying my wife will die if the chemo doesn't work for her" Grayson asks at the verge of breakdown
"Have faith Mr. Dolan,my team and I will try our best for your wife. Please don't forget to bring her in tomorrow, also give her this vitamins, she'll be able to walk and have energy "she explains handing over a small container.
"Thank you so much doctor,I'll walk you outside"I offer and she nods.
"Have a nice day,Mr. &Mrs Dolan. See you tomorrow "she says and we leave the room.
I walked her to the car,
"Doctor, please tell me will she be alright "I ask sadly
"To be honest with you Mrs. Halan, your friends case is very rare. It is rare type of Leukemia and if not treated she would die soon. Most people with this case don't survive. She may need a bone marrow transplant and to find a match is very difficult "she sighs
"Okay doctor thank you for everything. I'll let my assistant make the settlement to you immediately. Thank you "I tell her.
"Welcome Mrs. Halan. Have a nice day "she says
"You too"I reply as she drives off.
I turn to look back at the house, Erica and Piper trying to convince Annalise to do something and I smile.
I feel bad for these kids,I can't bare the thought of them losing their mom at their ages.
